It's not their fault that they keep getting elected, is it?

When was the last time you voted for someone because you liked them, rather than choosing the lesser of two weevils? Last time for me was voting for Reagan in 1984.

For me it would have to go back to Carter in 76. I think it was a good choice, over Gerald Ford. Carter didn't turn out to be the greatest president, but I think he was a lot better than people seem to be giving him credit for today. I think that if Anwar Sadat had not been assassinated the Camp David agreements might have done some real good. And at the end nobody could have done more to free the hostages in Iran. That was a dirty deal on the part of the Iranians to do it immediately after Reagan took office. Reagan didn't scare them. They were about to buy missiles from him for gosh sakes.

There was no way that Ford was going to win after pardoning Nixon (regardless of the regional differences in voters).

Since then you're right, it has been the lesser of the weevils.

When I saw VOTE YES and no more car tax---VOTE YES and no more house tax--VOTE YES and your child will go to college free--VOTE YES and you won't have an electric bill--VOTE YES and get free goceries--VOTE YES and live forever...come on guys, did you really believe the lottery could do all that was promised and don't forget who was making the promises.

The state was SNOWED.

I thought the lottery money was to go to the local schools not the colleges. If I knew that then, I would have voted no. It's crazy that we have to buy school supplies for the schools. That's what taxes are for. To help with that stuff.

You'd be amazed at how many school supplies I had to personally buy when I was teaching. There were some kids who really could not get their own stuff, but mostly it was just being slack. But it often came to handing out paper and pencils or do nothing at all.

And as far as things like paper and pencils are concerned, the school was no help at all, so what you're talking about would be the more expensive things like TVs and computers and such.

The whole system is crazy.

I don't see how you couldn't have known that. It was made abundantly clear at the time.
