I am surprised that no one has brought up when Leesville Police Chief Bill Lundy was shot in the back during a drug raid, (he was assisting LCSD) by a Lexington County Deputy Sheriff named Sonny Clark. Ironically enough Clark had years behind the desk until that night and retired shortly after the shooting.

Feb. 16, 1988

Some more details, a gag order was issued for all persons involved. Chief Lundy was very adamant about wearing a Vest, that night they were short one vest. HE WAS BUSTING PEOPLE LEFT AND RIGHT FOR DRUGS. Lundy was the original ANTI-DRUG.

Sounds like Lundy was expecting something to happen. If no foul play, why the gag order?

Polite, I have to correct you on what you posted. Chief Lundy worked for Leesville, so had he wanted to wear a vest he could have gotten one from his own department. The only problem there is that in 1988 alot of agencies did not have vests available to thier officer's, Leesville was one of these. Also there was no hidden agenda, it was simply a tragic accident that occurred that night. To go to far into detail would take more time and room than what is allotted here. As far as a "gag order", I have never heard that before, and if you check the archives of the State newspaper you will likely find some info on what really happened that night. And as far as Sonny Clark goes, he was in the warrant division and he retired because he had a hard time after this incident! What normal human being wouldn't. So let's not bring up ancient history that has nothing to do with this election, and that is still a sore spot for the people involved!

The double talk never ends. For the record I have the articles right here and yes it does have to do with the election, it was under the current regime. Besides this is a public area, remember the first amendment???

Oh yeah and you also made a point for me. Back then many PDs didnt have vests, so if he was on a raid in conjunction with the LCSD, then why didnt they issue a vest?

Lots of questions no answers.

It never ceases to amaze me the depths that some people will sink to in order to push a political agenda. Sonny Clark was a good man and a good officer. Bill Lundy was a good man and a good officer. Sonny Clark was devastated by the events of that evening, and he retired because he felt that the time had come. Until you have the courage to place yourself in dangerous positions for the well-being of others, (like Clark, Lundy, and other law enforcement officers) you have no business dredging up this tragic event. You have no idea what happened or how those involved were affected.

The same regime huh? So I guess that means that the exact same people are in the exact same leadership positions today as they were in 1988? Well I hate to bust your bubble but, WRONG! As a matter of fact there have been numerous position, leader, and job changes since then. This happened 13 years ago, and I dare you to show me how in the blue hell it has anything to do with this election! And as far as the vest topic goes, it was an L.C.S.D. warrant service, and Chief Lundy decided at the last minute to participate in the raid. And furthermore at that time Lexington county did not provide vests for all officers either, so how could they provide one to another agencies officer, who was a last minute addition? You are looking for some sinister connection to a tragedy that is simply not there! So again why don't you stick to the real CURRENT ISSUES, and leave these men and their families alone! Both of these men were good officers and people and don't deserve to be brought into an election that they have nothing to do with! Let this R.I.P.!!!!

Remember the first amendment? Yes I do, do you remember a thing called COMMON DECENCY? Sounds like you don't! If you don't like the "regime" that's fine, that's why we have elections, But leave history in the past!

The whole thing is just a shame. But if you forget the past you cant make correct choices in the future, like on June 8th.
