Okay... hmm... I'm not buying this for one minute.

This is a deputy that makes probably/maybe $40-50,000 a year (on the very high end depending on his pay grade) and is the main bread winner in the family. I read in a different article that, no, he's not come into any type of inheritance; however, he's able to afford a 4900 sq. ft. home on the salary he makes as just a police office. He has been reprimanded 5 times in the past 7 years including once for not turning in crack-cocaine from a drug bust. I have no idea whether he's guilty or not, but I can't believe that he would be shocked that others think that he is guilty of something. If you do the math then you have to wonder. Hopefully it'll turn out that he's just really good at buying & selling stocks. Guess we'll find out eventually...

Sumter, SC (WLTX) -- A Sumter County Sheriff's Department deputy fired in early May says he wants to set the record straight.

Alexander Dukes had been with the department since November of 1995. Records indicate Dukes was given five warnings over the last seven years, including one for failing to turn in evidence from a drug bust.

Dukes says he put four pieces of crack cocaine in the console of his car instead of immediately filing a report. He says he never possessed nor sold narcotics of any kind, and has never attempted to protect a drug dealer.

He was interviewed by the U.S. Secret Service in connection with his finances. Dukes lives in a 4900 square foot home, but says he paid for it honestly, saying that he's only guilty of working hard.

The Secret Service would only confirm that Dukes was questioned, and Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis said that Dukes was fired for personnel reasons. Dennis did quash rumors that Dukes' firing was connected to the arrest of former Lee County Sheriff E.J. Melvin.
