I was just informed of this website and thought it would be interesting to read some of the posts. The funny thing is, it reads like one big ad for Harrison. I also get the distinct impression that most of the people posting are disenfranchised former employees, who were more than likely "relieved" of their heavy burdens placed on them by Sheriff Metts. Too many of the posts have the same "voice" for it to be happenstance. I'm guessing it's just a couple of pepole who have nothing better to do anymore than to sit around eating bon-bons and posting.(You know, with my accute sense of deductive reasoning, I should work for the sheriff's department.) :idea:
Having said all of that, it is to be expected that anyone who serves in an elected position for 30 or so years, has stepped on a few hundred toes and relieved allot of employees of their jobs. I have heard that when you are hired by the department that you take an oath to "serve at the pleasure of the sheriff" meaning that your tenure can be terminated at anytime and for just about any reason. But I'm sure that all of those fine county employees pursued their "unlawful and or unjust terminations" and those terminations were overturned by the Employment Office or Department of Labor. Or it could be that they reported their plight to a governing body like the County Council, and were able to find a just resolution. Or maybe they just sit around and whine to anyone who will listen for the first 15 times, about how that Jackass screwed them over, and when no one will listen anymore they start posting on a website under 4 different names. ;-)
In closing I'd like to say that if Mr. Harrison is going to own or support this type of biased forum, he should at least try and have his "shills" do a little more counterpoint or discuss things other than the upcoming election. This would at least help deflect the criticisim that he is connected with an amateurish propaganda campaign. Because if something look like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck.......then it's connected to the Harrison campaign.

I believe we have shown counterpoint to almost all of ole jimmy's points/lies/half-truths. I do believe that the supporters of ole jimmy who can not give counterpoint Harrison. I am not a former employee, nor do I wish to be a deputy. I wisdh for my taxes to be used in a better way and not thrown away into an abyss of voodoo finances that the county council does not even see, thus can not be totally accounted for. Like it or not it is time for change. Concerned Citizen... If your so concerned about this site, then my best advice is to cut it off and go back to watching the Disney Channel. We are tax paying, voters who live in Lexington County who don't mind posting what we think about Harrison, Metts, Sons, Knotts, or anyone else who is on the ballot for June 8th.

Also, it was my understanding that Harrison is not connected with this site and it was set up by someone who was not connected with him or Metts.

If you have a problem with Lexington County Citizens speaking their points of view regarding Harrison, Metts or anyone else, then I would strongly encourage you to browse somewhere else. The problem with most people is that when they come on this site they see more Harrison supporters than Metts and they feel the need to pop out here with two cents of comments that amount up to less. Then you get your feelings hurt when you have so many of us come back at you and what I find most humorous is that you guys always want to point the finger at Harrison and say he is responsible for this site.

It has been very insightful and I have learned more on this forum that I could have ever possibly learned from the candidates themselves. It has definately made me a more informed voter.

You sure are defensive. I made an observation as a neutral, outside observer and everyone jumps like I walked in and caught you looking at naughty pictures. I never said I support Metts. I just can't stand people like you who attack from the sideline and never bother to jump into the fight. From stuff I've heard, I'm not sure I if like him as a person (my first impression of him was developed by his "song" he let slip during the Governor's campaign), but what I do know is that this site has an overwhelming number of Harrison supporters. Most of the attacks on Metts have to do with some personal matters between him and his wife and his poor choice of when and what to scratch, but if you are going to pursue a vendetta against him, I just suggest that you keep it above board and debate the issues.
My point originaly was that if this site isn't in any way affiliated with the Harrison Campaign then he made a mistake by having it attached to his website at one point in time. The problem with some of the others is that their "woody" :oops: to take down Metts blinds you to a real debate. Instead, y'all want to throw around terms like "vodoo budgets" and "crotch doctor" to scare the less informed and easy to influence. Then you make crazy allegations about officers in uniform stealing yard signs. ( If that did happen and there were a shread of proof, it would be all over the local media and more than likely, the national news) How about showing me how Metts has failed at keeping crime from growing faster than the State or National average. Show how the murders and violent crime have been spiraling out of control. Bring hard facts to the debate and maybe I'll let you sit at the big table with the rest of the grown-ups. I'm not saying that Metts is the answer, but if Harrison wants to win then he needs to explain how this Sheriff has failed the public that has re-elected him time and time again.
Well, that's about all for me. I need to get back to watching the Disney Channel, not paying my taxes and forgetting to vote. 1 - Waiting for someone to tell me why Metts should be re-elected as Sheriff besides his "longest Sheriff in History signs"?

2- Waiting for him to explain the 60% increase in the budget the last 5 years.

3- Waiting on him to explain why he uses the LC Tax paid vehicle to transport himself back and forth on personal errands and income driven agendas.

4- Waiting on him to prove his involvement and concern in the community and plans for the future.

5- Waiting on him to justify an affair that he is having with Vickey B. and how that is any different than terminating and employee for an alleged one?

6- Waiting on him to show up in public so I can ask these questions personally with my real face and name.

7- Waiting on an answer as to why he set up debates with other opponents and then failed to show for them.

8- Waiting on an answer for so many disgruntled deputies in his department.

9- Waiting for the REAL crime rates, larceny, statistics to be posted and not one that includes all surrounding cities in Lexington County.

10- Waiting on a reason for the extended response times if LCSD is so well staffed.

11- Waiting on a reason for the over staffed administrative personnel he has and how qualified those individuals are for the positions they are in.

12- Waiting for one of you nimwhits to answer the Abused childs post that no one has the balls to stand up and do. Wheres the real concern from you so called Metts supporters when you have citizens who take their children to the Sheriffs Department to report a crime and they end up being the ones screwed because one of your so called "qualifed detectives" doesn't understand a full definition of abuse. Sounds more like that accreditation money should have been spent on schooling these people who have to deal with CDV. That post really chaps my ass!!!

13 - Leading to my next question: I'm STILL waiting to find out what good this accreditation did for the citizens of Lexington County.


14- Point of interest: I'll put 50 signs in my front yard for Harrison. I promise if a deputy or someone chooses to take one. He won't make it to his car without something reminding him whose house he took it from and seeing me in court to followup it up. Just because this parent is scared of what someone might do to her. I assure you, I welcome it!!!!

15- Ben, if you would like address these FEW questions I have posted here, I can't wait. But, just like you and the rest of the people who have attempted. YOU WILL FAIL!!! Do you know why? 1. You shouldn't assume, you make an ass out of you and....well, just you. 2. I don't know why the budget would increase 60% but my guess would be it has something to do with Lexington County being the second fastest growing county in the state. Sort of the same reason we had to "waste" your money on building a second High School. You see, when the population grows you have to increase the service to meet the needs of the population. It's basic economics and planning and they really should have taught you that already. Unless you're home schooled then I have to blame your Mommy.

3. That's actually a good question. Damnit! The problem is you don't name specific "income driven agendas", how is he supposed to respond to that kind of open-ended loaded question?

4. Again, that's a pretty good question. I'm thinking your cheating off someone elses paper.

5. Now that's the Reality I know and love. Unless you're there counting how many stokes it takes, or at least have the pictures, you're spreading the same kind of rumors that you accuse him of spreading about your boy. Although I have heard that your boy got cold busted by the husband, who also happened to be a cop at the time. How does someone Cheat with one of their buddys wife and then turn around and look them in the eye. Talk about bad moral at the office.

6. The way I hear it is to show up with a camera and a mic and he will come to you. But really, I have heard he has meeting once a month with different neighborhoods. Maybe you should go to one of these, I hear the local media has a list of them.

7. I had not heard that he hadn't shown up for any debates and I haven't read of any scheduled debatesin any of the local papers. You should write the Chronicle, State and Free Times and see if the will look into that and see what's going on.

8. You could ask that of any Department in any branch of goverment? I haven't heard of any real stats saying that there was a revolt headed or a no confidence vote. Where are you getting that info? There is like 300 employees of the Sheriffs Dept., have you polled them?

9. What are you talking about REAL stats? I know you don't trust the dept stats so what goverment agency do you depend on to give you that info? How about asking them.

10. I guess that depends on where you live. I called them when my niece went missing and they were there in 4 to 5 min. then again I live in a densely populated area.

11. Again that is a personal judgement call. Have you ever ran a Sherrifs dept of that size covering that much area with that population? How are you qualified to question how many are needed to run that department?

12. I don't know why anyone has not answered that post. I don't work for the dept so I don't feel as it is my place to hazzard a guess as to how and why that case was handled the way it "allegedly" was handled. My guess is that it was looked into and found to be a hoax or maybe the "brass doesn't look at this web page. Who knows? Why don't you print out a copy and send it along with your letter to the editor? Maybe then we can all find out. If it's true then it chaps mine as well.

13. It makes me feel better know that my Sheriffs dept. is giving me the same quality of service that any big city might. That is the purpose. It is just the same as having a sticker on your businesses front door saying BBB (better business b..... aw, why explain) I'd rather have a certified officer taking my report rather than an night watchman.

Interesting reading Concerned Citizen/Guest, and as you said "Here we go again". Facts


1. Yes the budget increased by 60% and yes the county has grow pretty fast, but no more deputies on the road compared to 5 years ago. Where is all this money going to, since none of it has increased the number of road deputies :shock:

2. Yes Metts has scheduled 2 debates with Harrison and failed to show for either one. Harrison was there, but not Metts. Harrison has so far scheduled 1 debate, and Metts again did not show. There have been a number of meetings the public have scheduled for Metts, and Metts did not show, i.e. gang meeting in Irmo, Lott showed, but not Metts (Guess we know who is the Sheriff is who is trying to address the citizens' concerns). :shock:

3. Yes, Metts does use county cars, county gas and county personnel to drive him to Charleston and to meetings. :shock:

4. Crime stats? I have not seen any crime stats on the internet. Plus, it seems like everyone is taking credit for crime being down. But lets look at the one from Lexington county. A) As stated earlier in another forum, the area of the sheriff's responsibility has been lessinged by towns and cities annexing. 2002 the Sheriff was responsible for all crime stats in Swansea for instance. 2003 he is responsible for NONE. 2002 if a crime happened in a town or city limits and a deputy did a report, the Sheriff counted it. In 2003 the Sheriff no longer counted it. If a crime happened in a school the was in a town or city limit in 2002, the sheriff counted it since he had a deputy in the school doing the report. In 2003 these schools deputies were told to do the report, but that the crime will no longer be counted on the Sheriff's crime stats, that it would be counted for the city or town. Another problem with this crime stats is that the calls for service went up, but the crime stats went down? How can that be? :shock:


5. Metts holds himself as a moral and just above all others. If this is true about him having an affair, and after firing people for having affairs, this creates a very serious problem. He states in his web site that he has been married for over 30 yrs to the same woman, and that he teaches Sunday school in his church, therefore is a high moral person. But wait, what's this, Metts is having an affair. Sounds bad. REAL BAD. (Do as I say, not as I do because "I''m the God D$#& Sheriff of the God D$#& County") :finga:

6. Accreditation does NOTHING for the citizen for Lexington County. Accreditation shows you follow your policy and procedures (as far as they can tell). This is purely a feather in Mett's cap. :shock:

7. If you ran your business the way Metts runs the Sheriff's department, you would not have a business for long. Metts seems to believe he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and that there is nothing we can do about it. He can fire at will, and there is nothing a deputy can do. This is going to be an interesting election. I believe Metts is very much afraid of this election. I believe Metts has his eyes open looking for a job come June 9th. 3 weeks is all that is left. I personally can't wait to see June 9th, and let the citizens speak. Then we'll see who was right all along. The Metts supporters or the Harrison supporters. :razz:

Honestly honey; Everytime I read this forum and I see you and the other two Metts supporters post, why I just get chills at the sure sight of how well versed you and smart you are. Seriously guys... from everything you guys post out here. Lexington County is Sheriffed by Andy and Barney. Which means that Mayberry (Lex Co.) has got to be one of the happiest, everybody knows everybody (little, but fastest growing counties in the State). Now, how the heck is Goober going to fix all our cars and Aunt Bee going to bake all those pies for everyone?

Really, if Metts(aka Andy) carries no gun (campaign ground, platform and no public appearances) and we all know Timmy (aka Barney) has only one bullet that Metts/Andy makes him keep in his pocket and not in his toy gun (he's too small to handle the real thing), and from all the great big signs and all your wisdom/post on this forum -- there is no crime, no drugs or gang problems. There's no need for increasing the deputies because there is not shortage problem and everyone is as happy as Otis in the hotel jail; morale is at an all time high and the citizens of Lexington County feel that warm Mayberry loving from the Sheriff..

I have to ask you guys.. What the heck are we all out here campaigning tallying up votes and poles for anyway? Hell, we don't need an election, clearly, from your post, WE DON'T EVEN NEED A SHERIFF ... Cause, Mayberry/Lex Co. has been running on the fine wits of Deputies like yourself without the Sheriff anyway.. Because as it's been pointed out and factually stated - Ole Jimmy/Andy's been out pursuing other careers and interest and the whole Gosh dang town beens doing just fine on it's own.. Nothing bads happened, his deputies love him. Hell, we just fork over our tax money every year because well he is the G#$ D#$n Sheriff isn't he?

I see the problem that we have "Reality" or Heather or whatever your name might be. You can't read. In my second post, I told you my name, Ben Horne, and I decided to use my initials for brevity's sake. The person reading these posts to you must have forgot. That or you have the short term memory of goldfish. (That was a jab at you, a goldfish has a 6 second or so short term memory. Please make sure you explain that last one to reality for me.) It helps explain your blind hatred for Metts. The way you take shots at his second in command tells me that you were once close to the dept. in some way, more than likely you were a deputy (or still are) or one of the supporting roles. Maybe you're a trustee with access to a computer. Either way it also helps me understand why you are scared to post your name. You have to be terrified of what you will do if Metts wins again. I wonder if Harrison has promised you your job back or a promotion if he wins? Did you make a similar deal with the third candidate? What about the Democrat that will run against the winner of this primary? I do hope so, you're placing your bet with one in four odds. Actually, the odds aren't even that good. Harrison is running against a long time sheriff, a sheriff he used to work for, and a career politician. Everyone knows that South Carolina loves nothing more than man that can own an office, Strom Thurmond and Fritz Hollings spring to mind. Hell, old Strom would have been re-elected if he hadn't died.

Sorry to get you caught up in brew-ha-ha Reality and are having, Miss Manners, but I thought I might explain myself for the last time. If you read my past posts on this thread you will see that I'm not using my name to push anyone around or to appear like some sort of big shot. I use my name because I'm not afraid of anyone putting my name with my comments. Most others on this website throw their bs and conjuncture around all willy-nilly and don't have the testicular fortitude to stick their names on their posts. I started this post to make a observation and to see if anyone could debate their point without using rumor or name calling. They couldn't. It's sad that I got pulled into the insult game along with them but that is what happens sometimes. I began using my name to prove a point, a point that no one seems to get. I guess you can't have it all, unless you're my ex-wife of course..... ;-)

I read you past posts and unfortunately I would be less than honest if I were to say that you did not engage in conjecture and name calling. Also, the call for people to use their "real names" is inappropriate. The very nature of this genre of communication requires annonymity. It is simply the way things are done; regardless of how frustrating this is for you personally. You are certainly free to use your "real" name if you wish, but that is a decision that each person is allowed to make on their own. Coersion is not an option. In your case, it really doesn't matter. Nobody knows who you are anyway.
