JDG and I took all of the dogs...well, er...tried to take all of the dogs for a walk yesterday afternoon.
The younger husky got out of her collar before we could even leave the yard. I ended up doing the flying burrito (in the neighbor's front yard) followed by a rear nekkid choke so JDG could get her collar back on. Needless to say...she didn't go for a walk.
About a mile into our walk, a pit bull mix charged out of a house at our older husky. We were yelling at the dog. My husky was having a cow, as she is very dog-aggressive. It was a chaotic scene. At one point, I knew the fight was imminent. I stepped in between the two figuring that a trip to the doctor for some stitches would cost a heckuva lot less than a trip to the vet. (A $15 co-pay vs. $200 vet bill.) Anyway, fortunately we were able to stave off a dog fight until the bewildered owner came out from the back yard.
Anyway, adventures in dog walking...

It really was like a scene out of a movie. I heard something slam into something... then I heard it again... only that last time was when I saw the big dog slam into the storm door on a home we were walking past knocking the door wide open and then proceed to charge at us with its teeth glaring. It could have been very, very ugly & we are all lucky no one got hurt. That home owner was very lucky too that it happened to a couple of animal lovers because if it had happened to someone not so understanding of the furry 4-legged kind... well... it could have been much uglier. But, geesh... it was kind of scary. (BTW... I love Pitt Bulls... we aren't saying anything bad about that breed of dog. It was, however, a Pitt mixed with another larger dog and the truth is they do have a heck of a bite.) - I think my most confused moment was when the owner came running up from the back yard with another dog on the leash screaming for the other dog to come back to her. At one moment she sounded like she was going to ask me for help controlling them (she had both dogs at that point), but then she stopped. I offered and she told me no and proceeded to drag them both towards the door. Very odd indeed. I think at about the point she was going to ask for help it really dawned on her exactly what happened and exactly what could have happened.
