The Gaffney Strangler stalked the town. I'd never heard of this before.

I heard about this several years ago, but I didn't really think about it again till they brought it up on the news a few nights ago. The whole thing really is scary. I take it other than the sketch and a possible make/model of the car the person is possibly driving, they don't have many other details?

To me this was the best thing that could happen. Think about it... if he had been captured he would be alive and well awaiting trial living on the tax payer's dime. Jail is like a second home to this guy... he had a 25 page long rap-sheet. If he didn't strike a plea bargain it would be months before he went to trial (again, on the tax payer's dime). Let's just say he did get the death penalty... Jesus... it would be years and years of appeals and he would probably die of natural causes before they ever stuck a needle in his arm. Nope... this is the best way. The only thing I would suggest is they tie his sorry carcass to the back of a pick up truck and drag him through town for everyone to see.

Of course the cops did the right thing. The only thing they could do. I feel no compassion for this guy.
Sometimes when a crime is this bad and there is no doubt about guilt or innocence, it's impossible even for me to argue about due process. Of course in this case he got to choose the way he went out, which itself is kind of a shame.
