Just heard on tv 15 that Bobby Gerald, longtime mayor of Marion has just passed away. Whichever hospital he was in, he had checked into on Wednesday. Not trying to start anything, just passing along what was on the news at 6:00 Anyone know anything? Sorry to hear that. Bad day today, Latta Baptist Church lost their new pastor before Sunday School this morning. only 37 years old.

This is very sad news. Our thoughts and prays go out to the Gerald family. No arrangments have been set as of yet. Still wait to here something. I just thinking the other day how Bobby's mama use to take care me and my sister when we were younger. The Gerald family and ours use to hang out. This news really hurts.

have you heard this too? I certainly do not want to start something like this but unless I misunderstood it was on the news at 6. what was the problem and why was he in the hospital there. Do you know?

it was on scnow.com as well. My prayers go out to the Gerald family. You're right...today has been a sad day, with Latta Baptist losing their pastor this morning too.......my prayers are with them as well.

I truly believe that, over his tenure, Bobby Gerald led the City of Marion in a positive direction. Marion is a more attractive town due to his efforts through the years also.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this time.

Mr. Bobby not only was a great asset for the City of Marion and Marion County but he had a huge interest in the Emergency services of the County as well. The City of Marion FD, Marion Rescue Squad, as well as many other volunteer departments in the County have benefited from his assistance in the past. My prayers are with his family in their time of sorrow.

I also heard the news of the pastor's death from Latta this morning. My prayers go out to the family and Church in their time of loss as well.

Mr. Bobby was a great asset to the city of marion fire department and the Marion Rescue Squad. He will be missed and I hope that whoever takes his place will continue to support the emergeny services of the city and county. My prayers go out to the family in their time of need.

Good thread. I know the family appreciates the love and support from so many people.

Bobby Gerald was a good man who gave much of his time for the betterment of the City of Marion and to his fellow man. Do we all agree with everything he ever did or for that matter with everything anyone else ever does? Certainly not, but I hope anyone with anything negative to say about Bobby will please keep it to themselves now, the man is deceased, his family is heartbroken and they sure don't want or need to hear any cheap shots directed towards him. MAY HE REST IN PEACE.
