Is anyone else here disappointed in the new Super Walmart?
I am. There are never enough cashiers. Never. I don't care what time you go. Plan on standing in line. Sporting goods is a joke. You can never find anyone to help. I haven't been one time in which I didn't have to have an "associate" paged to assist me.The seafood section is a joke. I took the time to write Walmart. We asked them to please consider stocking other fish besided tilapia an salmon. Specifically, it would be nice to see some frozen tuna steaks or grouper. They did put Mahi Mahi out. It lasted two days and they have not restocked. I long for the old Walmart...........or something different.

I hate to say it, but your concerns are pretty common... no matter what Wal-Mart you go to in whichever county you may live in. The customer service is horrible. The check out lines are terrible. The attitude of the majority of the employees is intolerable. I had someone helping me one evening (and I use the term "helping" very lightly) and their attitude was as if I was inconveniencing them by asking them to do their job and, well, help me. I finally asked them if they could find me someone there to help me that actually liked their job and didn't mind doing it. Their attitude changed considerably, but it is bad when you have to make a comment like that in order to get decent customer service.
Is this the price we pay for (somewhat) lower prices?

i have to agree walmart sucks most of the time.
but i have to say there are some cashiers i love. miss queen in garden is always friendly and tries to help as much as she can. and there is one other one but i dont remember her name. i bought leeks and once again it didnt scan the price it was supposed to be and she went over there and look at it herself. first time a cashier did that for me.
and the pharmasist is really nice. i was looking for bitterapple for nailbiting and he even went over to beauty section to look for it of course they didnt have it but it was so nice that he took the time to look for it.
but i agree there are some really nasty people working there like in shoes!!!! i looked trought the flipflops were you can't really look without dropping some one the floor and the woman working there said out loud while i was still standing there "here we go again have to mess up everything" how rude is that. i was going to pick the ones i dropped back up but after i heard that i left them on the floor.
they are always out of everything i need. yesterday i wanted to buy some s.o.s scrub pads there were out of all of them i mean not one not even other brands how can you totally run out of that?????
Try To Shop At Your Local Downtown Stores!!! I Have Started To Do This More And Very Pleased With The Service. Still Go To Wal-mart Some, But Not As Much As I Used To. Just An Idea!

I agree we need to shop more downtown. I believe in giving the business to the small business owners!

Unfortunately, sometimes it is just too expensive to shop at mom & pop stores... especially in these hard economic times. I've thought to myself over and over that I would love to support local business owners more if I could just afford to, but sometimes that price difference if just way too big.

I agree with what you are saying but with the economy the way it is, shortly all the mom & Pop stores will be out of business. Walmart will have no competition and will be able to control prices. If you check closely you will find that some of their prices are higher than the mom & pop stores.

As usual, wisdom about this issue comes from the Andy Griffith Show. In one episode Aunt Bea was buying groceries and that busybody Clara told her about a new meat store in town where she could get a really good deal on a whole side of beef. She decided to be disloyal to her longtime grocer friend and bought the meat from the other store. She took it home and put it in her raggedy old freezer on the back porch which promptly stopped running and she had to ask her old grocer friend to store it in his freezer for her. Needless to say she was ashamed. He stored the meat for her. Andy bought a new freezer. At the end they actually ate some of the meat but it was so tough they could hardly bite it.
You see the parallels with the WalMart thing.

I remember when Walmart first rolled into Colatown. It was a great day. However, the Walmart of today is not the Walmart of 25 years ago. Some of you younger people may not remember this, but Walmart used to make a HUGE deal about their American made products. They treated their workers extremely well at the time.
As Jack Palance would say, "Believe it...or not."

I remember all the Walmart brand items with the little write-up thing on the label and Sam Walton's signature, proudly claiming to be made in the USA. I bet you'd be hard-pressed to find something in there now like that.

About 73,000 pairs were distributed in the United States and about 18,000 were distributed in Canada. The recalled Buster Brown & Co. shoes are red, plastic-molded clogs with a fleece lining. I absolutely do not like the super walmarts in Florence, Marion or Dillon. All have some nice acting employees and some are just as nasty as they can be. I asked a guy in the garden dept in one of them this week about the patio furniture. I didn't think he was going to answer me at first, then he told me he had no idea about what I was asking and starting walking off. I asked him didn't he work there and was not part of his job to help customers. No response, just kept on walking. He really didn't know it but I don't put up too much with crap like that, normally I would have gotten a manager but was in a hurry. Also I don't care what I am looking for, no matter how big or small, they never seem to have it or not the the amount I need. I find the grocery dept to be somewhat better but not much. I used to could find some right cute clothes, especially in the Dillon store, but no longer. I think they have sacrificed the rest of the store to make room for the groceries. I very seldom go to Wal Mart anymore, try to shop with smaller businesses. I liked Walmart when Sam Walton was alive, everything was so much better quality, made in USA. Bet he's turning in his grave. I bought a double size blanket and threw it in the dryer with a fabric softener sheet for just a few minutes to soften it up. When I took it out, it had shrunk so badly it wouldn't fit a twin size bed. I was very ugly about that to the manager and later was ashamed of myself but am tired of spending hard earned money for junk.

I was just at the Marion WalMart this weekend and, believe it or not, I was looking for patio furniture for my mother. The guy that I asked to help me find what I wanted was very helpful and I found just what I wanted. I guess it depends on who you ask for help. And it shouldn't be that way. That's bad management, which for some reason WalMart doesn't seem to care to do anything about. We went to Marion because it is much better that way than the one in Conway.
Of course the chairs that I bought were made in China. I think everything in the store was made in China. I also bought a nice printing calculator for my mother, made by Sharp, also made in China. It seems to work well though, and the chairs are very nice.
WalMart is one of the biggest reasons that China owns so much of the capital assets of the US now. What can you do? I looked for the chairs everywhere else before finally going to WalMart and couldn't find what I wanted. If I had found them at Lowe's or Sears they would probably have been made in China too. I did buy a wrench at Sears and, guess what, it was made in China.
Forget learning Spanish. We should probably start learning Chinese.

^True! Near impossible to find anything anywhere that is not made in China!
My wife and I went to Lowe's in Florence the other day and bought some plants, mulch, and other items. I pulled up to the mulch and there were four guys standing there. Not one of them asked me if I needed help. I started loading the mulch and they all walked away. That is some really great customer service. You know, come to think of it, they didn't even ask if I had paid for the mulch yet. I could have gottin' the mulch for free, dang it. That wouldn't had been the right thing though.
