Everyone probably knows that cats have unique personalities. Anyone have some bad cat stories? Do tell!

Well, funny you should ask that. I recently was conned (okay, not really conned) into "adopting" a kitten from a co-worker's family member. I say "conned" because it was one of those heartfelt stories about the poor little thing just needed a good home... blah... blah... blah... you know the one... designed to tug at your heartstrings and make you fall hook, line, and sinker? Yep... it worked. We now have Milo... a not-so-little orange male tabby. It started off fine... and I will say that he is so cute... but the cuteness soon turned into crazy. He attacks everything. He tears everything to shreds. He is worse than a puppy... a bad puppy at that. He loves toilet paper because he has found that it makes wonderful confetti... he rips it to a million little pieces. I've never seen a cat that can climb up flat walls, but he can. And furniture... Lord, my furniture didn't stand a chance.

Why do we still have him you might ask? Because he's cute (and crazy) and because we love him. Still... the baddest cat I've ever had.

Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?

And Milo does... he comes for you... he waits and he attacks. He has perfected (or is that purrrrfected) the art of the "flying burrito" leap onto your stomach when you are least expecting it. It is less pleasant - if that is at all possible - when it happens in the middle of the night when you are dead asleep.

We never found any other kittens.
Maybe there was none.

I bottle fed it and got it to lap milk after a time.
He wasn't as big as a beer can, boy ,,, did that change.
BOY, could that rascal run and jump.

He had two bad habits. Egging on dogs to chase him, they could never catch him. And Leaving mice and stuff outside the back door for me.

The kids called him Blacky but he never made cat sounds.
When he made a sound it sounded like a half @ss bark, so, I called him Dog.

Lot of story's about Dog.
Had him for years and then one day he wasn't there in the driveway to great me as usual when I got home. Never knew what happened to him.
He was a one man cat.

BTW, I'm not a cat lover.

Funny thing... the co-worker that I mentioned earlier... the one that I kind of/sort of got the bad kitten from (the one that semi-conned me), well, his wife sent me a care-package yesterday. It was quite funny actually. I laughed out loud when I found it. It was filled with the necessary items to make Milo (the bad, bad kitty) even crazier than he already is. Kitty-Nip mice, Cat-Nip seeds... heck even Milo-Confetti (aka... rolls of toilet paper). It was hilarious to say the least. Well, I got home last night and gave Milo his new toys (minus the Milo Confetti... I'm not that crazy) and he went BONKERS. It was quite entertaining, to say the least. I think he wore himself out playing with it all. Well, Milo... for our sake... has to sleep in a big dog crate at night (basically so we can get some sleep as well... and so the big Husky won't eat him when she's inside for the night) and this morning when I got up to let him out I noticed that he managed pull all sorts of things into his crate with him. Paper, plastic bags, stuffing from the care-package... the cat nip seeds. Oh, he had a field day last night. Worse than any puppy I've ever had... but darn he can be so cute.

By the way... did anyone realize that dogs love cat-nip too? I just found this out. Hmm... makes them act a little bonkers as well... interesting.

I have a friend who works state transport who monitors taxi co's and moving co's. She is a HUGE animal lover. She was in town one day and stopped by. The cats (3) love her. On this particular day she decided to pick up the male who had gained some weight (27lbs). He was fine for a few minutes then all of a sudden turned on her and bit her hand. OMG, I flipped out but she played it off with humor. The very next day she stopped by again with her hand all bandaged up! Said she ended up having to to to doctor and get a shot. By then I was crying.....thinking to myself, oh lordy, medical bills in addition to having to have cat tested for rabies cause I couldn't find his tag.........I'm getting ready to call hubby because I was so upset when she informed me it was all a joke she and her mother thought up to punk me! Gosh, I love my friends!

:kitty: Soooooo... on the subject of bad cats... would a cat be considered bad if they, say, managed to destroy your big-screen TV? Yep... I believe that is what happened to mine today. I would imagine that would equate to a pretty bad cat, but then, I don't know.

Okay... just to be fair about this... I don't know if I can truly blame the death of my big-screen television on the cat(s). I thought that a vase of flowers had been knocked off a shelf (by the cat) and the water had splashed into the television in the process; however, when I took the back panels off to check for water damage I didn't see any water at all. I'm not sure if the water got in there (due to the cats) and I just couldn't see where it was or if, by some HUGE FREAKING COINCIDENCE, my television just happen to die around the same time as the vase incident. I don't know... seems a little too convenient for me... but maybe... just maybe... it wasn't the little booger's fault after all.

I just want to note that while we are in the process of getting the panel off the back of the TV I looked over and there he was... the cat in question... curled up in a ball in front of the window sleeping like a perfect little angel. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

DIARY OF A CAT

DAY 983 OF MY CAPTIVITY

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear in to their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Tormentors

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.....

I believe this is very true. I find that it is a good idea to leave little notes around the house for the cats reminding them that if they happen to kill me there will be no one there to make sure they get fed. That usually works.

JDidGirl..., Sorry. Thought when you said "big toy" you meant a toy for your cats. Most cats don't like abnormally large toys, and performance that keeps them intrigued is essential to the cats. Sometimes when the toy is too large, abnormally large, they don't want to play and are in fact, disgusted or even frightened. However, if the toy is of adequate size and performance is superior, the cat is happy, maybe in a state of euphoria...for many days at a time.

Hmm... well, the television is a big toy (to us) so hopefully they'll not be intrigued at all! At least they better not be. So far... so good. They seem as if they couldn't care less.

By the way... a co-worker's wife gave us some cat "toys" recently along with some stuff that cats seem to dig a lot like emory boards. That little crazy cat that we have (the really bad one) must have like the taste because I think he ate half of one. Don't ask me how I know this... let's just say that I have to clean the litter boxes out and I have found some surprising things in there from time to time.

His chest is covered in a tangle of hair, but the rest of his skin is bald and rubbery. His tail is slim and rat-like and his face is a mess of wrinkles.
The eight-year-old cat is actually named Ugly Bat Boy. Those who know him best call him Ugly or Uggs for short. Owner and veterinarian Stephen Bassett doesn't mind his beloved pet's frightening appearance.
Bassett attempted to save Ugly Bat Boy's sister, who looked just like him, when she was a kitten. But she died despite Bassett's greatest efforts. Appreciative of that, the owner gave Bassett Ugly as a gift of thanks.
While Uggs' appearance is extraordinary, his daily life is quite the opposite. For the most part, the cat can most often be found perched atop computers throughout Bassett's office. One visitor, appalled by Ugly's appearance, snapped a photo and emailed it to friends.
That sparked his rise to fame and now Ugly has a national T-V show trying to book him for a guest appearance.
Bassett said he's not sure yet if he wants to take Uggs on "The Ellen Degeneres Show."

He looks not so much ugly, as evil.

Oh, that precious little angel is doing just fine (insert all sorts of sarcasm if you like). Actually, he's rather hard headed. I wouldn't really call it an alarm clock, per se, but I do have one that likes to ever-so-annoyingly poke you in the lip early in the morning because he wants to go outside and because he wants to make sure there is food waiting for him once he gets out there. The other one like to attack anything that moves under the covers. Shifting in bed when you are fast asleep is anything but fun... especially when he takes a flying leap off of the top of the dresser onto your stomach all because you moved.

No cat alarms here. My 3 have to stay in the front of the house at night and are not able to get to our bed. Prior to us shutting them in the front, I got very little sleep. One of them would get on my chest and just sit there and make strange noises, another one would get at my head and "groom" me. The youngest would get between me and hubby and whine till she got me in the right position so she could lay her head in my face.

Funny thing though.......They never did any of this to hubby. He always got a good nights sleep

Pretty sure it was the cats....They are doing the "guilty thing".

Actually, I did notice my cats dragging arse in late the other night. I'm pretty sure they swiped my car keys and took my car... without my permission and without putting any gas in the tank. I asked and asked, but they appeared to be too hung over from excessive cat nip and just ignored me and then curled up into a ball in front of the living room window and went to sleep. I've tried to get answers, but they are all mum now. Anyway... it's starting to all make sense now though and we will be having a long discussion about this later.

I grew up in a rural area... there were several homes on the street that we lived on, but houses were not right next door to one another by any means. We had a cat, Tiger, that would steal anything that wasn't nailed down. He would steal clothes off of people's clotheslines, he would steal floats out of neighbor's pools. One night I was driving home from work and I saw the craziest thing ever... I witnessed Tiger dragging a queen or king sized bedspread down the side of the road towards our house. I stopped my car and watched him for a while... he would take a couple of steps and then reach back with his mouth and grab the blanket and pull and then take a few more steps and repeat the process. I watched him for a while and then drove on home. The next morning Tiger was laying on the porch sound asleep and the blanket was at the end of the driveway... as if he got it home and just couldn't pull it any further. That cat was so funny. He lived to about the age of 18.

Don't laugh... we found underwear all of the time... all sizes... mens & womens. And, yeah, we would see him running through the yard with it. It all started making sense one day when our neighbor mentioned how a lot of their stuff had been missing from their clothesline (that was back in the day when people actually line dried their clothes). I think they assumed that someone was stealing it... they just didn't know that someone was a cat.

I'll have to say that you all are making me feel better about my cats. We have one that was occasionally peeing on the couch, but I think I've defeated him with a Batmobile-style covering of clear vinyl into which I installed grommets and tied it down tight with cord. Other than that they just knock things off of the furniture once in a while.

On the other hand, our two outdoor cats, who eat and sleep on the glassed-in back porch, are nearly perfectly behaved.

I don't know what my secret is. If I figure it out I'll tell.

Well, I just wanted to tell you guys about a cat that we had that was not bad at all... in fact, she was super cool and one of the best pets I/we ever had.

Kiki was about 18... give or take... and she just had the best personality. And she was funny... and knew it. We always said if that cat could talk she would sound and act just like Dixie Carter's character off of the show Designing Women. Even people who disliked cats loved this one because, honestly, we're not sure she really thought or knew she was, in fact, a cat. Anyway, over the past year or so she started losing a lot of weight... basically getting that "old cat look"... you cat owners may know what I mean. We went to great lengths to make sure she was happy (and spoiled). She was fed can cat food every morning and every evening (our cats normally only eat dry cat food) and she was still drinking water and using the bathroom like she normally would. She stopped grooming herself so we just bought babywipes and cleaned her ourselves... you could tell she enjoyed it and probably wondered why she never forced us to do her work before. We agreed that we would let her live out her life as long as she could as long as we were sure that it was a good quality life and she wasn't in any pain. Yesterday, however, that changed. Her breathing became very labored and I found that she was bleeding when she went to the bathroom... we knew it was time. Yesterday evening around 5:30 we had to have her put to sleep. It was so hard, but we knew it was the right thing to do... the humane thing to do. We miss her terribly and we just hope she knows how much we not only love her, but appreciated her as well. She was the coolest!

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys about a very, very, very cool cat instead of the bad ones we talk about on here. Kiki was the best.

Zoo has 2 rescues that are more family than pets, a Keeshond that his first family no longer wanted and a blind cat that was born under a car and Zoo's better half works. Both are spoiled and get quite upset when the kid leaves.

The other night I heard something odd under my bed so I grabbed my phone and hit the camera button and snapped a pic to see what the fuss was under there. Here's Milo... the bad, bad cat. As you can see, he's done wonders with my mattress boxsprings... this hole is nothing compared to the one at the foot of the bed he's created to climb in and out of.

That is so sad. I am so sorry you guys lost her and had to go through that. You are so right that they are family members, our babies.

Oh boy... yes, Milo. He's bad. Really bad. He's tried to eat my little aquarium frog 3 times now. Litterally. I found his little aquarium knocked over twice and the third time I found my little frog (he's a little over an inch long) crawling on the living room floor. He's missing a back foot now. I've moved him (the frog... his name is Jethro) several times and Milo always finds him. Milo also has a thing for kitchen canisters. We came home the other day to find our big sugar canister on the kitchen floor in a thousand pieces and sugar everywhere. Oh, we knew who did it. He lost his "manhood" a couple of weeks ago... we hoped that would calm him down. No such luck. Good Lord, we're just hoping that he grows out of this... soon.

Yes, it's true. I ran to the bedroom checking for horse heads, but all I found was a small orange tabby cat sucking sugar off of his paws. What kind of sign do you think that could be (beside the sign "he friggin' did it!", that is)?

I seriously need help with a cat problem. He is kind of old (at least 12 years) and he will not pee in the litter box. I have to keep my furniture covered with plastic and I will have to refinish my hardwood floors. I had to take up the rugs.

Anybody have an idea? I hate to euthanize him but this is getting to be too much.

I had the same problem with one of mine. I finally let him go outside. Now, we don't live on a busy road or anything like that, but still... it was either that or have him put down. It changed his attitude 100%. Of course, you can also try a mixture of hydrogen peroxide & liquid detergent and spray it in the areas the cat keeps going in. It breaks down the enzymes and cleans it making it difficult for the cat to smell where it's been going to the bathroom... that helps too.

swampfox

I have tried using peroxide to clean the stains. I'll try mixing it with detergent.

I have a really bad black stain on the oak floor that was underneath the rug where I didn't know he had been peeing. (rugs are at the cleaners now) Any ideas for getting the stain out short of sanding?

There's no point in sanding and refinishing as long as he is alive. I don't think he could survive outside. This is a difficult time. When he is gone I will refinish the floors. But that could be years from now. The living room looks really bad now. Embarrassing to have guests. I can't cover it with another rug because the same thing would happen again.

The other indoor cat (much younger) is just fine. So are the outdoor cats, who eat and sleep on the glassed-in back porch at night.

I hold the dog responsible. He is supposed to be the head animal.

Captain Worley

Might want to take the cat to the vet. I've heard that if a catr has urinary problems, it may associate pain with the litterbox.

Worth checking.

swampfox
05-13-2009, 02:39 PM
We already did that. The vet said that there is nothing wrong with his urinary system. It has to be a psychological thing. Don't know what to do about that. It's hard to train a cat.

I've been practicing with my dog with the leash in the back yard, and he was perfect. He's a good dog. A North Main Street mixed breed. Was rescued out of the woods along with three siblings when his mother got sick with heartworms. She died shortly after she was captured. But the puppies were all fine. Crazy about my dog.

JDidGirl
05-13-2009, 02:59 PM
I'm telling you... let the cat go outside. If you are thinking about having him put down due to this then you have nothing to lose by seeing if his attitude changes by going outside.

Have you tried newspaper or that soft litter instead of regular litter? Some cats have an aversion to certain smells that litter gives off. How about an automatic litter box? Some cats just will not go in a litter box that another cat has gone in.

I'm telling you, Swampy... put the cat outside. He may not like it and you may feel bad, but you are saying that the only other solution may be to have him put down. This way it gets a fighting chance. Or... try diapers or a crate. I've totally crated Milo at night because he gets into too much and makes a mess or is too loud. He's fine in the crate all night. Maybe you need to try that with your cat at night or when you are not home. I know my other cat tends to wait when I'm not home or at night to pee on things.

We finally bought cat food that was really bland... she didn't like the taste as much so she didn't want to gorge herself and only ate when she was hungry. She would, however, steal a sandwich right out of your hand though. She was 18 and we had to have her put down recently. I miss that cat.

You actually end up spending about the same because you aren't buying it as often.

Thanks, we'll give it a try!

I love that face and facial expression, epecially those dark eyebrows above his ominous eyes. Looks like a bad case of IBS!

The video is about Kingsford the piglet but the cat behavior is typical.

That first pic has just always bothered me. I know that cat is dead, but yet somewhere someone didn't think it was gross at all to play with it and pose it with stuff. Awe, poor little kitty.

Uh-oh... Milo Kitty just sent me a message. He wants you to know, Worley, that you may have side-swapped his evil plan this time, but next time you will not be so lucky. You may know what he can do with his eyes, but you should see what he does with his tail. It's like a crazy mad weapon!

That last pic is just a picture of Milo's secretary. Hard at work helping him take over the world... one set of blinds at a time. (Milo is now the window blind killer. He goes nuts zooming around the house and then he just slings himself into the window causing mass destruction to the blinds along the way.)

OMG, all of the above are so funny and unfortunately so true. My bulimic kitty doesn't lick windows, she licks blinds.......The oldest chews on the edges........I can't have my hummingbird christmas tree because of the kitties, I can't......Oh well, I just can't have anything pretty.....Using my laptop is like a circus act......I'm so tired........

That's why I only use the cheapest plastic shades available, $3-4 at WalMart or wherever. Easier to break, but the aluminum ones got all bent up and I could never fix them back. When they look too bad I just replace them.

After these, NO MORE HOUSE CATS. I love our two outdoor/porch cats. But NOT the house cats.

I've probably got 10 or more years to wait on the youngest house cat to shed this mortal coil, so my life is pretty much ruined.

Yeah, our blinds are definitely the cheaper style... all because of the cats. The sad part is... looking at our house from the outside (or inside, for that matter) I don't think there is one single window that doesn't have some sort of mucked up blind because Milo Andretti and his racing ways. Oh my GAWD... flies... he goes nuts over a simple fly. If one gets in the house from outside, he goes berserk trying to catch it (again, the blinds pay the price)... and he usually does catch it. Of course, sometimes he misses the fly and catches us.

I know about those flies! I do have a question tho.....Does Milo eat the fly when he catches it. Mine do the "catch, kill, leave on floor" method...

Wow, Milo has a personal secretary? That must be great. I bet she decorates his office on his birthday and everything.

No... the little nasty bastid eats them. Gobbles them up before I can even yell for him to drop it.

No... actually the secretary just does admin duties for Milo. He doesn't pay her enough to go out of her way to do the other things. That would cost a whole lot more and I'm sure that even if she was paid more her attitude would still be a little bitter about having to do it. She can be a little catty as well.

But we all know that she really is the brains behind the whole operation.
