I recently had surgery at MUSC in Charleston with Dr. Sunil Patel. I had what is called an Acoustic Neuroma. It's a benign tumor between the inner ear and the brain. This was my second surgery in 3 months. Why did I have surgery a second time? Because the local Drs in Columbia were unable to remove all of the tumor. My recovery from my first surgery was tough although by standards it was great. I spent 6 days in the hospital and left with a walker and quickly made progress. I spent 13 hours for the first surgery. With Dr. Patel in Charleston, I was out of the hospital (MUSC) in 2 days with ZERO problems. I spent less than 6 hours in surgery. I was awake and alert that night!!! Please, anyone who has anything related to the brain, go see Dr. Sunil Patel at MUSC. Trust me.
Email me with any questions.

I had my followup to the above surgery. I am pleased to say the Dr. Patel was 100% successful. I'll always be grateful to MUSC. I wished that I lived closer to MUSC. I'd volunteer in my spare time.

A member of my family had a pituitary tumor removed by the same Dr. Patel. He does deserve a lot of credit for his excellent work. We are lucky to have him in SC.
