View Full Version : Gas Prices??????????
OK, what is going on in our county? The price of oil is dropping so that means the price of gas will to. Now, in Florence county and Horry county the price has dropped but not here. I saw the price in Florence yesterday and it was $3.49. In Marion the price of gas is still $3.89. Even when prices were lower, I noticed that the price of gas in Marion county was $.10 higher than other surrounding counties. Can anyone shine some light on this subject?

It's a modern day Republican conspiracy direct from that Bush boy and his chosen successor McCain to further penalize poor counties where the majority vote for Democrats! The modern day Republican Party and Republican leaders are not what they used to be in my day, they have sold their souls to the big oil companies and the right wing religeous finatics. Poor rural communities like yours don't vote for them so their big oil cronies will forever make them pay the price at the pump! Trust me, Ronnie

R.R. I will agree with you about it being a conspiracy, but what ya going to do? The government has us all by the short and curleys. They have gotten a taste of what the public will not so happily pay for a gallon of gas, though we "need" it, and they want to squeeze us untill we give them a new house, boat, car etc.... I have to take out a loan just to fill up. I have seriously considered buying a bicycle and peddling to work. Good excercise at 20 miles round trip.
Took a look at prices yesterday. We're still $0.20 higher than others. I guess the people you're talking about Grizz is the good old boys clan. If the gas prices aren't bad enough, how about the stores closing around here. What the heck is up with that? Movie Gallery, Sears, Sonic (Shocking), who did I miss, & who's next?

About the stores closing, that just goes to show ya how bad things have gotten in Moron, I mean Marion. If it makes ya feel any better prices are about the same at 38 and 95 as of today $3.57, prices at the truck stop on NCHwy 220 and I-74 was about $3.79:???:

Gas is always more at truck stops.
When I came through New Jersey in June, gas was $4.69 and a pack of premium cigarettes was $12.00.

We went up to Ocean City MD for the fourth, and I think the gas prices were about the same there as they wre here at the time. The cigarettes, on the other hand, were outrageous. It was almost $50.00 for a carton of camels (what I used to smoke). I am so glad I quit when I did. I was also in Florence yesterday, and saw gas on Darlington st. for $3.299 pr/gal.

From what the news has said, "blame it on the hurricane", but gas prices were skyrocketing before Ike was any where near the gulf. Granted, now that the refineries in Texas are closed because of the storm, we can expect $5.00 pr gallon or better. Gas in Marion was $3.49 yesterday afternoon, and I saw it this morning for $4.19 at the same store. Kangaroo stations have issued a 10 gallon limit as of this morning. I can't give any more blood for about a month now, and my tank is on 1/4!!!!! Taking donations of any denomination....... 5's 10's 20's. Please?!?! :twocents:

It's really sad that our qovernment loves us so much, the same people that voted them in, that they are allowing the price of gas to be so high. Thank you big oil for all your love and support. Truely I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I'll remember to get you a gift this christmas since you've been so nice to us. Maybe a nice shirt with a bulls eye on the back. May God have mercy on your souls for your actions.

I actually saw gas for $2.74 a gallon on my way into Lexington yesterday. Man... I remember (way back when) we all thought $1.80 a gallon was expensive. How we all long for those days, huh?
Gas prices at the hot spot in Pee Dee yesterday was $2.78.

I've tried bargaining with them, offering $1.75 a gallon for a fill-up.
No luck so far.

On another thread I posted my age, but in my years of paying for gas, I can remember my senior year of high school paying $1.06 and I thought it was highway robbery then. On the other hand I payed $2.69 yesterday at Sparkys, and was excited about it. Glad to see it come down, but I would love to see $1.75 again Fox.
