Who would you like to see run for public office in Marion County? That would include all city and town offices, county council, any elected positions...just looking for ideas on the kinds of people you think would best serve our communities. Please be serious and offer thoughtful suggestions that would help improve Marion County. Who knows, this board may provide the forum and feedback to entice a good qualified candidate to run?

I have already voiced my opinion, or hypothesis, on the Marion Mayoral situation on another thread. I still believe my hypothesis would not be a bad idea.
In my opinion, anyone that has been on city councils and/or the county council over a continuous four year period need to make room for better leadership, better ideas. Any person that has been on the city councils and/or the county council over an eight year period is just taking up space. Marion County's current blight proves this point.
Remember, in the City of Marion you have the "Strong mayor, weak council" concept and in the City of Mullins the opposite is true.
The problem is that the people you would love to see get involved always prefer to shy away from public service. Are there any bright minds left in Marion County between the ages of, say, 25 and 45? :?:
I know there are only a few of us left! LOL!

Johnny Floyd, Al Blake, Neil Fairbanks, Rodney Berry, Larry Atkinson, Ernest Davis, Ricky Martin would make a powerful county council. These men come to mind when I think of integrity and smart business men. I doubt any of them would run but they would be exactly what Marion County needs, heads and hills over what we currently have.

that is not the fish I know and I'm sorry you dont know him. he is a very intelligent person and he honestly cares about our community. I have seen fish take action when it came to taking care of people on his ambulances and he has a successful business. That is more than some can say.

Ive known fish a long time and he is one of the good guys. Fish could set this county straight but he has told me that this county is a lost cause. We need a change of leadership or it wont get better. Has anyone talked to fish about this?

Just not enough on his resume. What are some of his accomplishments? May be in a few years when he's got more experience. What boards has he served on outside of his profession.? I don't know anything about him other than he says he owns Pro Ambulance. Many people are business owners . We need people that have a proven track record in serving our county in diverse ways. Brush up on that resume Bigfish and prove yourself to our county and then give it a shot.

sorry, not personal at all. In fact don't even know him.I'm not sure of what he's done. Maybe you can tell me how he's benefitted our county because that's what we need ,proven leadership. By the way i'm sure one of these alias is Bigfish. Listen I believe anybody is better than most of the leadership we have. I encourage him to run. I've notice some good comments by him but that doesn't always translate into action.. Bigfish, if you want to run for office by all means go for it and I will certainly listen to any idea with keen interest as a committed voter in Marion County. Truly didn't mean to come off personal....may apologies

I am sorry to disappoint but the only alias I possess is this one. Nice guess, though.
I have been away the past weekend so please update me. What is going on?
You encourage me to run but I need to know what it is I am running for (or from LOL).
You also say I am all talk and no action and claim you do not know me while you stress there is nothing personal associated with what you say. So what gives?
I benefitted the county by way of creating a total of twenty jobs (full-time and part-time) within the borders of Marion County. Go Local Economy!!!
Apology accepted.
