Hello Friends. The Marion County site appears to be growing. Tell your friends about this site. The more people ...the more info. I know we cut up at times, some get angry, but surely everyone can see the value in this site. We can learn info on this site quicker than the local papers. I for one am really enjoying the dialogue .

I emailed everyone in my address book a link to www.friendsofsc.com (http://www.friendsofsc.com) and asked them to scroll down to "Friends of Marion County." Also utilize MySpace if you are a member to help get the word out about this site. (That goes for you Facebook users, also.).

Are the people of Marion county ready to stand up and fight? In the thread "New Marion Mayor", you (govman), protector, and fireman107 have stated some good points. We can all talk a big game but really are the people of Marion county ready? The constitution says,"For the people by the people." We, the voters, are the ones to make a differance. If people don't vote than the big names get their way.

The phrase "...that a government of the people, for the people, and by the people shall not perish from this Earth." is from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. He was talking about why it was necessary for the US to defeat the Confederacy in that war in the early 1860s.

Good point anyway, eh?

American,
I can tell you this, For the first time in 20 years I 'm hearing the word change as it pertains to Marion more than I ever have. . I voted for the current Mayor last time around because I've known him for a long time. I like the guy (Berry) that ran against him last time and probably would really consider him this time but word is he has no plans of running this time around. I think our citizen council is a mess! Only one or two of them appears to have any gumption. Most just appear to show up. County Council no better. Not one real go getter among them. We need people to come out of the wood works . People willing to give at try for the right reasons : TO SERVE. You've got friend or relative right now that you think would do a good job. Encourage them or consider yourselves. Personally, I'm past my prime and a bit lazy but I know this and it prevents me from running. I wish these very same things would prevent some of our current seat holders from hanging on. Many of them look very, very tired. I don't mean any disrespect but it is what it is!
