I am very upset regarding a news report on WLTX on March 22, 2004. There was an attempted child snatching at Chapin Elementary School on March 12, 2004.

I am angry that the news report 10 days later was the first I heard about it! I currently do not have a child in Chapin Elementary, but do live in the area, and my child will attend Chapin Elementary next year.

How can it be that the community was not told of the incident? I also believe a child snatching was attempted at Lake Murray Elementary from hearing parents talk at soccer.

I'd like to know the policy of the police regarding these matters and how they plan to keep our community safe and notified when something like this happens.

I do realize that the school may not have notified the police immediately, but I do hope that was not the case.

Did you try dialing that number for your local resident deputy? Their supposed to keep that message updated...I think...

You might also try contacting the School SRO (School Resource Officer)of each school. They are privy to that information and would be able to offer up more details than I believe the media. The school Principal and/or School District would be another vice.

I have children in the school district and I did hear about the preditor at the ballfield in Chapin that was lurking around the recreational field. That report was actually put on the news the very date of the incident, which I believe was a couple of weeks ago. I saw it on the evening news. They had a description of him as well. I believe they mentioned a white male, late 40's. Not 100% certain, but you should be able to get that from the SRO. This is probably what you were hearing about on t.v. It sounds like the same person and it is definately in the same area. I am not aware of the Lake Murray Elementary School.

Good luck on your search.
