I would say they are very good. I see them a lot and they are a big help to us on medical calls. I just wish we could use them to help us in the unit like the Lexington County ems folks can do with their firefighters. I also we got along well like they do in Lexington County. I personally like their help most of the time they are eager to help and just need a little push in the right direction. IE... "you go with my partner and help her carry stuff in here" and "oh no! we got us a beached whale here ok you firefighter folks I hope you ate your wheaties today."

They do help us on scenes and they are great to work with. I wish we all could work together a lot closer like they do over in Lexington county though.

:supz: CFD ROCKS!!!! :supz:

All is asked to remember a fallen brother This week.. Engineer Timmy Young lost a battle last week while suffering a heart attack on a call. And Thurs he will be buried with full Firefighter Honors. All i ask is that you keep his family in mind...Gods speed Brother!! and God bless the protectors !!!

I would say the situation is not good. Why are we duplicating services with Fire running EMS calls? Big waste of resources and tax money to see a fire truck following an ambulance to a call.

Fire trucks aren't usually following EMS units. Its the other way around. Approx 30 fire trucks to 11 or 12 EMS units. Its a good thing!8-)

Are you complaining about help from firefighters? In the beginning most firemen didn't like doubling our calls but we got over because we want to help people, just like you. We're in it for the same reasons, I hope. I wasn't attempting to to bash EMS I was stating an opinion of mine. 30 trucks verses 12 trucks. Being at a county station for sometime I know that you all seem to get calls quicker from dispatch than sometimes we do. Have a good day my friend and see you on the next call.

I wasn't complaining about help from fire fighters. We appreciate it very much and are there for you when you need us. My point was, when you say "in the county, the fire trucks win most of the time, that is very misleading, since the fire dept. is only dispatched to a small percentage of EMS calls. Be safe.

what does EMS go on that the FD does not?

EMS runs stabbings, gunshots, headaches, sprains, broke bones, etc.

Fire Dept goes to life threatning calls where we're not in danger of being shot, stabbed, etc.

Be Safe:-p

A LOT. there are only "selected" pt complaint signals that the fire dept is dispatched to. not blaming anyone, just stating the facts.
