Whoever you are you must not know Jimmy very well because he has been at Lexington County for the last four or five years. He has, from what I understand, a really good thing going up there. He would not want to leave there and come back here, especially because of the money you make up there. I will say this he has always kept up good relationships with those of us who can't leave, but I don't see him coming back from there. I will ask him about this the next time I talk to him. I will also say this he would make a fine(honest) Sheriff in Orangeburg County and the people that I know really respect him.

Word on the street is that he will be back, but only in a leadership role. I would take that to mean as Sheriff. That would have to pay more than what he makes right now.

You know "loosely" you seem like you might care about the office you work for? I just can't understand though if you really work there or not? Most of your comments are inaccurate about Mr. Gleaton(to you) and you know they are if you work there. You are trying to stirr something that can't be stirred. Mr Gleaton is not a bad person and has nothing to hide so bring it on about the "bull****", and I promise you he will win. You might should educate yourself about what Mr Gleaton has behind him and the stature that he brings to the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office. Okay let me say this I think anyone could beat the current Sheriff out of office if they just have some knowledge and will to win. I am not very familar with "Mr Gleaton", but I would like to know more about him. I welcome any change in this department, as long as it is good!

Just so you know it seems that more people have just left the Sheriff's Department again. It seems there were some openings in the smaller police departments in the county. What is wrong with that picture? People should be leaving them and coming to here for jobs to advance themselves! Most think this is an advancement for them to leave and go somewhere else. The coruption here is deep and needs to be cleaned up but it will be a long and grueling fight. The things that go on here would surprise even the most veteran of police work. We need a new Sheriff and new staff along with a new hiring process. I have been here for a rather long length of time and have yet to see a completed Policy and Procedure manual. The Sheriff will not stick up for you or the community and people just don't see that. They only elected him again because they need something other than a "has been" or a "never will be". The people of Orangeburg County need a leader that will stand up against the trash and take it to the dump! I f you could prove to me that Jimmy Gleaton would be willing to do that I would garantee all the vote I could muster. I would like to sit down and talk with him, away from here, and see if he were ready for the job. I have seen no indication that anyone is going to run against Larry yet. Please someone let me know if you think Jimmy Gleaton could handle the job? Also, do you work with me here at OCSO or somewhere else?

My understanding is that Jimmy Gleaton is going to take over in 2007(Jan), as Assistant Sheriff, and finish his term for him. I think that could be good if the new guy comes in and gets rid of the fat! My understanding also is that some familar faces will be coming back to Orangeburg from Lexington with him. I'm all for a new sheriff here in our county and I hear this Gleaton gentleman is a good man for the job, but what I want to know is who is he going to have as his upper brass. I know that he should have this in mind if he is planning a sheriff's race. I'm interested in knowing this and how much experence do these people have and knowledge of the job. I would like a answer to this and if I am happy with the answer I will support you JIMMY GLEATON to the end. You sound like what we need but we also need someone with you that knows what they are doing.

My understanding is that he is bringing several well known people from around the midlands and from different departments. He has said that this combination of leaders would increase the resources to "overhaul" the Sheriff's department. He honestly believes that he can transform it into one of the state's premier agencies, but he has said it will take at least two terms to fix all the problems present there. When I asked him about three months ago about experienced people he stated that in the people he has offered a position to he has over a hundred years of experience in his proposed staff. I think this could be beneficial for Orangeburg. I hope this answers your questions..

I have just got into this forum and I see that Mr. Gleaton is planning a run for the title of Sheriff. The only thing that I don't see is anything from Mr. Gleaton. Now if Mr Gleaton is running for this job, then I think he should come on this site and say his peace and let us know what his plans are. If he is not responding to any of these messages, then this tells me that he may not really be considering a run for the office. I have agreed with most of the responses in that we do need a change in the department but if the man running is not willing to reply, maybe he is not really interested or maybe this was just a hoax. Mr.Gleaton I urge you to respond and let the people know that you are interested in the job and if you can give us your view as to what you are going to do for us, maybe the people who read this web page may give you more support. So please let us know what your plans are. Maybe you can get more support than you think if you have some good plans for the department. I will give you support and help you with your campaign and if your intereste I do have alot of family and friends in the county from whom I can get votes. So let us know soon. From the things I have read you may be what our department needs to help this crime stricken county that is under the protection of the states worst chief law enforcement officer and in the history of this county, that could very well be one of the states best counties.

I don't know why he has not responded but I think that he needs to consider what this county needs as far as law enforcement. I am new on the site but I have seen other sites and I have talked to other people in the county and I see that this county needs a change. Now, I have talked to some people that know Jimmy and I understand that he is a fair gentleman and that he would be a good chief law enforcement person for this county. Mr. Gleaton, If you check this forum, then you need to let us know if you are going to run so we can get behind you and talk to others about getting behind you also. I have heard about the investigations that our fine sheriff is under and has been for sometime and it seems that he might be in for a few well deserved years in the rest home for CROOKED LAW DAWGS. Let your supporters know QUICKLEY.
