View Full Version : Bush and Congress, the people aren't pleased

I saw today That Bush's approval rating was 31% and Congress' approval rate was 22%. Despite what the spinmasters on both sides are saying, I think it has nothing to do with party affiliations. I think the American people are sick and tired of the way the government is run. Everyon'es got their own pet issues, but overall, there is a great feeling of disatisfaction with the quality of our elected leaders.

Swampfox has said repeatedly that it isn't the politicians fault they get elected, and that's true to some extent, but really, the candidate pool is not really anything to write home about. I'm not thrilled with any of the presidential candidates, and I don't expect anything better for Congressional and Senate seats.

The system's broke. I don't think anyone who would want to help would run for office, what with the current poison political atmosphere. That needs to change.

I think as far as SC is concerned, the last truly decent person was Alex Sanders when he ran for the Senate seat that Lindsey Graham won.

It's one of those jobs that's just not for honest people anymore.

That's why Alex lost. He would have been a HUGE voice, an asset to our government, and a statesman in the truest sense of the word.

He's just too damned good for us.

He might have a good shot at running against Lindsay now. Maybe he should have another go at it.

I don't think he wanted to run last time. I think he did it out of a sense of duty as a life-long public servant, I'm serious.

The only way we're going to see SC vote for a Democrat for a major office is if the religious right really does split with the republicans. Then the party of Lincoln will have run its course.

You might want to try to recall the first Monday in February, 1979. First period.

Wouldn't the newpapers love that. Or heck, the postcard companies!

I admit, not a stellar moment, but she was a cheerleader, a cheerleader, dang it!

I'd do it again! Do you hear me society? I would do it again!

Back to the subject of the thread, Happy Wanderers.

The release of these new Presidential coins should help sway public opinion, don't you think?
