My pet peeves are people with bad breath that have to get close to you and talk in your face.

Or a talkive person that talks during something you really want to watch and hear.

Like a band contest.

All these people on here bitching about each other.

LoL...it all depends on what you consider slow...I consider 60 in a 60 on the interstate slow! LoL I dont think they would enforce that!

Better yet make it illegal to just ride in the left lane, left lane for passing only. (traffic permitting) :squee:

Flossing and brushing help also.

Speaking about driving pet peeves....it bugs me to no end when people don't use their turn signals while driving. It's annoying when you are driving behind someone that is braking for what seems no apparent reason only to then see that they are turning right (or left).

Or when someone is waiting to get onto a busy road and cuts you off to get in, but there is no one behind you. Why can't they wait til you pass? Is is that imperative to get on the road before someone else?

Usual Suspect

15. people who complain about government but don't vote
16. people who purport to discuss an issue with "authority" when they don't have even half (never mind all) the facts
17. people who act like they know a lot but really have no clue
18. cashiers who ignore the customer to carry on a conversation with a coworker
19. millions of $ being spent on "highway beautification", fancy government offices and furnishings, unnecessary travel and entertaining, tourism promotion(private businesses should fund that), all manner of pork-barrel special pet projects and other such silliness when we have kids who can't read, homelessness, hunger, too few law enforcment officers, horrid schools, terrible secondary roads, a mental health "system" that can only serve about half of the people who need it, a DSS system that can't keep up with the needs for services, backlogs in all the courts.......
20. people who won't say what they think.

15. people who complain about government but don't vote

That's another pet peeve of mine. IMO, if you don't vote, you don't have a right to bitch and complain about anything.

I also cannot stand drivers who yap on their cell phones and try to drive at the same time. Last month I was rear-ended by a man who was too busy talking on his cell phone to know that traffic ahead of him was at a FULL stop due to a red light, and he hit me from behind. Fortunately my car had very little damage and my daughters were not hurt. His car needed to be towed and his air bags also deployed.

When will people realize that it is just not safe to talk and drive? If you really must talk while in your car, please pull over so you do not become a traffic hazard.

23. Irresponsible pet owners. If you're not a breeder get the dog fixed. If you're not going to train the pet, keep the pet safe, and keep it out of the neighbors hair, then DON'T GET THE PET, get a clue!

TAILGATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody mentioned tailgaters, those self centered a##holes who think they own the highways and follow on your bumper at 70 trying to push you out the way no matter what lane you're in, especially the ones in those tractor trailer rigs. Those SOB's don't belong on the highway.

TAILGATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...follow on your bumper at 70 ...no matter what lane you're in

It's very dangerous to tailgate. I agree, but from your post, I gather that you are one who cruises in the left lane? No matter how fast they want to go, it's not YOUR JOB to enforce the speed limits by slowing them down. Move to the right and let them pass you. It'll be over in a moment, and you can move back over. Think of them as your own personal "radar deflector". Don't worry, their time will come. You might pass them later down the road when they're pulled over for a blue light special. I know I have before.

My own pet peeve: People who want to turn the US into a Nanny State "For The Children."

Take charge of your own children. Quit letting them run wild in public. Make them sit down in restaurants. Make them shut up in movies. Keep them in sight in the grocery store. If you can't, don't take them out in public until you've socialized them. You had them. They are your responsibility.

But also as the guest mentioned Move out of the way and let them become a Ticket Saver* Works everytime...

Then when you pass them while they are getting the ticket toot the horn to thank them for the hard work

Let me ask a question here, and please be honest. I hate those that get in the left lane and just cruise. They hate me to because I will get about 6" off of their back bumber and just bump draft the dummies. Sorry, my question, Have any of you noticed the skin color of 90% of those that get in the left lane and just cruise? Why do they do that? I know that was two questions.

Either way, you must be pretty starved for decent human company.

Croen, I have no idea what color you are because I don't know you, but again, I state I think you are black.

Just because I don't agree with your view does not make me a troll, it makes me and individual with my own opinion, which is vastly different than yours.

Trust me, I am not starved for company, truth be known I'm sure I have many more friends than you. You have to understand that I know that the circle of friends that a mensa candidate has is very limited.

IB, I don't believe your description of yourself for several reasons ("my military mind"; sure, why not?), but be that as it may, I just want to say this in general:

A racist soldier, which I know is not an unheard-of thing, is a pretty disgusting concept. He has dishonored his uniform, his flag, and his country. And then he comes home with what he thinks is some kind of authority to spread his hateful opinions. Any way you look at it, such opinions are anti-American, and the fact that the person speaking them has been in the military is just something that, if it means anything, means nothing that anybody can be proud of.

If you stop your hateful remarks, you'll stop getting them back, and maybe we can discuss actual issues. Otherwise, maybe playing cards on the internet is just the occupation for you. I think I can safely say that the rest of us are here to have some fun and learn from each other, not to babysit.

Don't take my word for it go back and read your own post, you are an expert on everything and if you don't believe that just ask yourself. Heck, I'll bet you are a legend in your own mind.

I. B. Wright
06-27-2005, 12:14 PM
I have thought about it in great depth. See you are so blind Swamp, that you can't see that just because I don't want to live with blacks, don't want my children nor grandchildren dating blacks, can't staqnd the ones, black or white, that want to live off of the government. and whether you want to admit it or not the percentages of these people are far greater for blacks. So I do not teach my grandchildren to hate, I do not teach them that we are any better than blacks, I do teach them that we are different, because we are.

Fearful people are easy to control. They generally give up their freedoms willingly in order to feel more secure. Ben Franklin had something to say about that: he thought such people deserve neither liberty nor security.

It's a famous quote, but you never hear it in the mainstream media these days. I wonder why.

Every Arabian isn't going to crash a plane into a building. Every African-American isn't going to rob convenience stores. Every Asian isn't going to attack Pearl Harbor. Every Caucasian isn't going to be in the Klan. From my real, however limited, contact with people from around the globe, everyone is inherently the same. You all have been a font of information concerning littering. I am always picking up the trash thrown out on my street. If you find trash with someone's name and address on it, you can notify the Lexington Co. Sheriff's Dept. of your find. I do know that several years ago they would send a litter control officer out who would take photos of the dumping. I was told that they do make people perform community services. Howver, as I said, it was several years ago and their policy may have changed.
Yes Captain Worley, as a former smoker with formerly nicotine stained fingers, I disdain someone thowing out their nasty butts on the road. In fact, I now despise smoking.

This is purely cosmetic. Do you realize how you smell to a non-smoker? Do you realize how you look with a cigarette hanging out of your mouth. Do you know that everything in your home (including your car) is probably nicotine stained? Do know how un-sexy smoking is? Now, as a former smoker, I'll get off my soap-box and I'll stop there before my comments get x-rated.

BTW is an abbreviation used on message boards and blogs. It means 'by the way'. There are lots of them. 'IMO' and 'IMHO' are 'in my opinion' and 'in my humble opinion'. Then there's 'LOL' for 'laughing out loud. And 'LMAO' for 'laughing my appendix off' (I think it was appendix). I'll try to find a list of them to post.

Yeah, I know all about smoking. Remember I'm a biology teacher. Certified in advanced placement courses, among other things. I can't explain it. I agree that it is stupid, stupid, stupid. no offence GRITS but one of my pet peeves is when non somkers or former smokers tell people who smoke how bad it is. We know it's bad and most would love to quit but some aren't ready and some just can't. Former smokers know you won't quit until you are ready no matter what you know. Non smokers seem holier than tho with the just put them down stuff. If you know some one who smokes don't keep harping on them, its their choice and only they can make the choice to stop. LOL. The liquor was a joke. Sorry for mis-spelling in my last e-mail. I need spell check. If you are serious about quitting. I suggest making an appointment with your family doctor. There are meds. and I understand there are injections now. The injections are fairly new and expensive. I understand you attend class to learn what to expect. Welbutrin a med., which is used for depression, is also used for smoking cessation. The generic name is Bupropion. Zyban is a med. used for smoking cessation. Check with your insurance company because I know several years ago insurance would not pay for Zyban. I do not know if that has now changed. It may be expensive to begin with but think of what you'll be saving in the long run. I'm sure the doctor will put you on a plan where you will not be on the medication forever. The benefits of better health and spending that money on something else that is really worth it. I'm sure your family would be happier too.

I do not know how long you have been smoking and if you are having health problems now from smoking. Maybe you can elaborate for me.

How I quit was after I would smoke a cigarette I would put the butt into a mayonaise jar of water. When I wanted a smoke, I would inhale the nefarious odor from the jar. I soon realized that odor was what I smelled like. Pretty disgusting. Now smoke really bothers me. In fact, I was in the bank the other day and an elderly woman stepped in behind me she smelled of stale smoke and the odor made me ill. I could hardly breathe.

The benefits of not smoking are: I feel better, I push myself to exercise. Food tastes great (maybe to good). I do not feel like a slave to a cigarette. When I saw what a carton of the generic brand of cigarettes cost. I couln't believe it. I can only imagine what brand name cigs cost.

See, in my case I would have to talk my wife into quitting at the same time, which I think I could.

I have no noticeable health effects from smoking. I say noticeable because I'm sure that I would feel better if I quit, but there's nothing immediately pressing. I have good blood pressure, good cholesterol.

I've been smoking for a little over 20 years, since I was almost 30.

I got to admit I like doing it.

If you want to try the meds, your insurance company will pay for it if your dr writes it for Welbutrin instead of Zyban. I tried the meds and they didn't work for me. My father died of throat cancer and my husband died last year of lung cancer. So I have no illusions that its not a bad way to die. I really want to quit but like Swamp, I like it too. I hate the way it makes everything you smell, but the though of just trying to quit terrifies me. I will try the injections when my dr thinks they are ok.
Grits I do get mad sometimes way to easy, but you were right so no use in aruging. I will save that for another day.

I am sorry for your loss and that meds. did not work for you. But don't get discouraged. I think I quit a million times before I was successful.

I'm a recovering alcoholic with nearly 20 years sobriety. I also smoked for 20 years. When I started I could get three packs of cigarettes and enough gas to go to Myrtle Beach and back for $5.00. I enjoyed it for 10 years and took another 10 to quit. they were more difficult than the alcohol to give up. On August 11, 1989 I smoked three cigarettes at lunchtime in 45 minutes, got up, and gave the rest ot the pack to a coworker who smoked the same brand. He put them on a shelf and said I'd be back, but I never touched another one. I will admit that every time someone left one burning in an ashtray for the first five years after I quit I would instinctively reach for it when I walked by. As a result of having quit, I was able to do more things. Ten years later I started walking regularly, then running, and in 2000, at the age of 48, I was able to go with my son’s scout troop to Philmont and climb Mount Baldy (over 12,000 feet). That 11 days in the backwoods of New Mexico made any efforts I ever made to quit worth it. I could not possibly have made it if I still smoked. It’s tougher than hell to quit, but it’s one of the best things I ever did for myself. Good luck to all who still suffer. Keep trying, troops – you’ll make it.

It's nothing special. When you realize your choices are either to straighten up or die, you get incented in a hurry. I'm one of the lucky ones. What I have gained far outweighs anything I ever lost. All I lost was stuff, and there's plenty more stuff out there.

Back to pet peeves. If I hear the word "basically" used on one more news show as a filler word, I'm going to do a large technicolor yawn.

So your the jacka** that runs right up on my bumper when I am passing a line of traffic and not doing it as fast as you would like for me to. I'll make you a deal. I won't hate you for running 6 inches off my bumber if you promise not to hate me when I bump the brakes and my trailer hitch takes the grill out of your race car. Happy Motoring.

People that get that close to your bumper think they are the best drivers in the world. I believe they are the same people that blast past you if you are in the right line at a speed differential of over 20mph. Truly good drivers know better than to disturb traffic in this manner.

Remember, you can't go fast if you stand out.

Question: Why is it the people that drive 40 in a 55 zone are the same ones that drive like Richard Petty through the Wal-Mart parking lot?

When I catch the dogs doing that I follow the dogs home and have a talk with the offender's owner. I don't let my dog go in to other people's yard and do that. It is to bad that there is not an invisible fence to keep other dogs out of your yard while keeping your dog in.

If I see it happening, I yell out the door at the dog owners, "Pick it up! Clean up after your dog!" They usually do. (heh, heh I said do)

I think not cleaning up after your animal is about the lowest thing a dog owner can do. Gives 'em all a bad name.

Gee life really is fair...you really can get away with murder....

CHARLESTON — A convicted murderer who spent 15 years on death row has been sentenced to life in prison after the state Supreme Court ruled there were errors during his trial.
Herman Henry Von Dohlen was convicted in 1991 of killing a 21-year-old woman in a Goose Creek dry cleaning shop. But two years ago, the high court granted a new sentencing hearing.
The court upheld the murder and robbery convictions but ruled Von Dohlen's defense attorneys did not adequately present evidence covering the degree of his alleged mental illness at the time of the murder.
On Thursday, Circuit Judge Markley Dennis sentenced Von Dohlen to life with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
Since he has already served time, Von Dohlen could be eligible for parole in 15 years, prosecutor Ralph Hoisington said. The defense maintained Von Dohlen was depressed and possibly delusional at the time of the killing because of the recent murder of his brother.

I'm sorry, but I really need to rant and vent!!!!!!!

1. The new Lexington Medical Park attached to the Lexington Medical Center needs a D**N map so that you can more lost than you were before. Not just for the internal buildings, but(t) for the whole 5 million acres.

2. I really hate doctors that are not really interested in what you have because they have already formed their opinions before they walk in the exam room. My back locked up several months ago and when I went to see the doctor his opinion was "no no it's not your back, it's in your shoulder" and the more I tried to convince him that it was my back, he had already formed his opinion and acted on it. (I got a d**n shot inthe shoulder).

AND MY FINAL RANT OF THE DAY. . . . . .

3. There is an accident on I-26E/B at 118MM, the sign board at the 112MM stated that "traffic was clear at the 118MM" and really had no idea what the hell that meant. WELL, there was another accident at the 115MM with 4 cars on the right side, out of the road and 3 cars on the wall blocking one lane of traffic, I got caught behind this one car and 15 other cars all stop in the middle of a EXTREMEY BUSY interstate to "rubberneck" including one moron in a white van who stop crossed in 2 lanes to watch. The whole time I'm trying to get out of the way so I don't become the next accident, I'm waving him on and blowing the horn so that this idiot will move his fricking van and he just sits there looking at me with a really dumb look on his face with this "deer caught in headlights look". Truely afraid that might be another accident (with me involved) I really wanted to get out of the car and strangle this guy. !!!!

I'm sorry folks, I reallly needed to get that out of the way. Hope everyone has a great and safe holiday. ZooFuzz Be Safe.
