Today was my garbage pickup day. When I went to the street just now to pick up my rolling garbage container and the recycling bin, I found that they had dumped about half of the contents of the recycling bin (all plastic bottles this time) into the empty garbage container.

Before this (a couple of weeks ago) I had had to call the county ombudsman because we sometimes go months between yard waste pickups. The most recent incident, strangely, involved about half of the yard waste being picked up and the rest left where it was.

Has anybody else had problems with the county solid waste people? Am I being messed with?

You might try calling the private garbage service that has the contract in your area. In my parents' experience, it was far more productive than calling the county. In their case, employees were getting lazy. I suspect that to be the case with your situation, too.

I have also noticed that the garbage service picks up both recycle and household garbage in the same truck. Why am I separating paper, cans, and bottles if they are mixing it all together?:?:

In my area we definitely do have two separate trucks that pick up our garbarge and recycling; however, from week to week it changes what they will pick up and what they won't. One week they take old newspapers... the next they won't. One week they take bottles... the next they won't. It drives me insane that from week to week what they take differs. AND... gotta love this... the stuff they don't take they usually just toss into the yard next to the recycling box.
