Why not just call the EMS office and leave a message? That should work.

Because they are a part of the department of public safety, they will neither confirm nor deny his employment nor will they accept a message to pass on. They will just tell you they cannot divulge that information as they have no way of confirming who you are.

Your best bet would be to stop when you see an ambulance parked at standby somewhere and ask the crew if he is working that night. They're not supposed to let you know, but they'll be more inclined to pass on a message for you.
