This was very disturbing, but very true. Children become their parents, good or bad.

(Atlanta) -- A judge sentenced a couple to life in prison Wednesday in the death of their malnourished six-week-old son -- who was fed a diet consisting mostly of soy milk and apple juice.
Superior Court Judge L.A. McConnell imposed the sentences on 27-year-old Jade Sanders and 31-year-old Lamont Thomas for starving the boy, who weighed just three and a half pounds when he died

Just because you want to be vegans, don't impose your views on someone that cannot make decisions for themselves. When a child grows to a point when they can understand, let them make that choice of lifestyle. You people know the difference between right and wrong and how to raise children, there is plenty of information out there.

Same with Christian Scientists, and other groups with similar taboos, failing to provide medical care for their children even when they are very sick.
I'm with you. People can do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt anybody else, particularly their children.

(Lexington County) – Like clockwork, hundreds of children pour out of schools on weekday afternoons. So, what if a person waiting outside is not a parent, but rather a predator? Would your child know how to react?
“We try to talk about strangers,” said Carolyn Beck, who works at the school her 11-year-old son attends. “We try to tell him they don’t look like the boogey man. They look like anybody’s mom and dad.”
However, Sergeant Jeff Flanders with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department says parents should do more than talk to their children about dangers. He suggests they role play.
“I’ll reach out and grab him and say, ‘You’re going to come with me,’” explained Flanders, showing Beck’s son how to react to an abductor. “Braden is going to start yelling out, ‘This is not my dad. I don’t know this person. Turn me loose. Someone please help me. Fire. Fire. Fire.’”
Moments later, Braden was put to the test. While walking alone, he was approached by Flanders, posing as a stranger.
“Your mom asked me if I could come pick you up,” said Flanders, grabbing hold to Braden. “So, you’re going with me to the house.”
“Hey, hey, hey, help, help, help,” screamed Braden.
“Let’s go!” responded Flanders, attempting to pick up the child.
“You’re not my dad!” screamed Braden, as he pulled away and ran.
“If we never tell them what to look out for and show them how it’s done, then they really don’t know how to react or respond to a stranger,” explained Flanders, who encourages parents to act out similar scenes with their children.
“Of course, I was glad to see how he reacted,” said Braden’s mother. “But, it’s unnerving to see a situation like that, even when you know it’s just acting. You just hope that it doesn’t happen to you, but you can never say never anymore.”
“I think this has helped me,” said Braden, following the enactment. “I am a brown belt in karate. If anything happens like that, my mother told me to use that as self-defense.”
For more tips on preventing child abductions, visit www.missingkids.com (http://www.missingkids.com).
Flanders offers these tips:
· Don’t allow young children to walk home alone, even if they live near the
school.
· Have older children walk home from school with a friend.
· Create a secret codeword with your child. If you have someone else pick up the child from school, tell them the codeword, but make sure the child knows to never share it with a stranger.
· Do not display your child’s name on his/her clothing because can use name recognition to get a child’s attention and trust.

I WILL DO EVERYTHING in my power to keep any of this from happening to my child. A good exercise for children and adults is Karate and the school she attends also teaches "stranger danger".

MySpace Refuses To Turn Over Sex Offender Data
RALEIGH, N.C. -- MySpace said the request wasn't legal. So the social networking Web site won't comply with a request by attorneys general from eight states to hand over the names of registered sex offenders who use the site.

I wonder how MySpace could have that data. Surely nobody registers for MySpace and reveals that they are a sex offender.
The only way I can imagine it happening is MySpace handing over a list of ALL of its members, which I can see why they cannot be compelled to do that. If there was a way to filter the membership for sex offenders, I would be in favor of doing so.

Besides, the NSA has the technology to raid anybody's data base in the world except possibly for a VERY few.
Now legally, they would need a warrant.
Another result of the lawless Bush administration illegally spying on Americans. Now when a legitimate need for information comes along, it will be harder to get it.
What a tangled web.....

That's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Seriously though... this guy used to be a really good entertainer, but I can't get past his issues now to even enjoy listening to his (older) music... back when he was still a black man instead of a white woman. This guy has got so many issues and he really should be in jail or at least never be allowed any interaction with children (even his own) whatsoever.

The Jackson 5 were great.
It must do something to a person to become world famous when you're as young as Michael was when he was singing ABC and Stop! The Love You Save May Be Your Own, etc with his brothers.
Anybody going to the last concert in London?

The DVD will probably come out as a collector's edition. I'll wait until I can find a good used one.
Cheaper than renting, usually.

Law Enforcement check the names in the Sex Offender registry against the list of my space members. They then requested information on those people that was maintained by my space to include who they are "friends" with and copies of their PM's. My Space refused because they don't care about who uses their site or what they use it for. All they care about is generating web hits that drive up the price of advertising on their site.
Some good info on this thread. My wife is pregnant with our first. I'm both happy and scared. I know I'll be a good dad but I don't want to be so over protective that my child won't learn anything.
