Trooper Hurt, Driver Shot In Scuffle During Traffic Stop
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- A state trooper was injured and a man with gunshot wounds was arrested after a chase and crash early Thursday morning on Interstate 85 in Greenville County.
A report by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said that LCpl Donnie L. Gilbert, 33, was injured during a scuffle with the driver of a car he had stopped for a traffic violation. There were varying reports of how the officer was injured. Initially it was reported that the trooper had been shot in the hand, but that has not yet been confirmed.

Groups Protest Man's Arrest, Shooting In Trooper-Dragging Case
Three different civil rights groups are protesting the arrest of a North Carolina man, who was shot during a traffic stop last month.
Tarrance Hall is accused of dragging a state trooper on Interstate 85 after the trooper had reached inside Hall’s car during a traffic stop.
http://www.wyff4.com/news/13267137/detail.html
These groups are not interested that a trooper was dragged from a moving vehicle, that the driver dragged the trooper because he was doing something illegal, or because he shot the trooper. They're angry because the trooper might have said the N-word. So basically what they are saying is that the things that were done to the trooper were valid as long as the trooper doesn't say bad words to the perp.

This reminds me of the politically correct crap I had to deal with when I was teaching.
The science department at LRHS was famous for NOT passing failing students. So regularly we had classes where two-thirds or more of the students got Fs. Then the administrators would gather us together and say "If they's too many Fs there's something wrong with the teaching." You wouldn't believe how much hassle we went through about this, and when parents would come, the principal and the parents were united against the teachers. So we eventually gave up.
If a school is performing poorly, usually it's because of the administrators. Even the lowest performing students could be helped if the adults all had their best interests as first priority.
I'd say the guy who dragged the cop should at least get assault with intent.

CAMERON, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say searchers looking for a state constable found a shallow grave near Interstate 26 in Orangeburg County Saturday afternoon.
http://www.wltx.com/assetpool/images/07515171017_constable%201.gif
Charleston County sheriff's spokesman John Clark says a special team from Columbia has been called to dig up the body, which has now been identified as 67-year-old state constable Robert Bailey.
http://www.wltx.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=49851
Clark says new information from Asia Prioleau,
the girlfriend of the chief suspect in the case led searchers to the area near the state Highway 33 exit not far from Cameron.
http://www.wltx.com/assetpool/images/07518225430_SUSPECT.gif http://www.wltx.com/assetpool/images/07515171045_constable%202.gif
Friday, officials announced they were charging Prioleau with accessory after the fact to murder. WCSC in Charleston is reporting that since the discovery of the body, Prioleau has also been charged with murder. Officers say Prioleau is the girlfriend of Walter Fayall, a man arrested Wednesday in Charlotte as a person of interest in the case.
This is MURDER. These perps committed murder, plain and simple. WHY? at this time is unknown. BUT, if this officer had been black and the perps white, it would have been called murder AND racism and the racism police would have been all over this story.
From ZooFuzz and Family, our hearts and prayers to the family of State Constable Robert Bailey.

Hey brainiac, before you go spouting about things you know nothing about(which seems to be just about everything), I suggest you read the U.S. Supreme Court decision of Woodson v. North Carolina(1976), 428 U.S. 280, 96 S. Ct. 2978, 49 L. Ed2d 944. This case makes it clear that mandatory death penalty statutes violate the Eighth Amendment.

1) I could be an overweight, unattractive 47 year-old female blimp trapped in a decades old loveless marriage who will always be a "professional student" because she has no employable skills.
2) I could be a trashy female drunk who lusts for her uncle and spends all her time on the internet....that is when she isn't engaged in the pinnacle of her career of selling kitchen appliances.
3) I could be a lesbian who is still fuming over the fact that a certain individual broke up her lesbian affair back in 2000 and forced her ugly ass off the street where she had resided for the last 6 previous years.
4) I could be the parent of an extremely obese mid-to-late 20's daughter who has no hope of a man ever showing interest in her daughter(other than a dairy farmer), while having this daughters main interests being beer and cats. Not that her other 2 daughters are prizes either. I won't even address the topic of your husband.
Fortunately, I'm none of these disgusting things. Instead, I'll just have to settle for being the slim, attractive, ex-Marine with the incredible legal mind and math skills that allow me to make easy money by tutoring others according to the schedule that I set. And while yes, I do reside with the folks, this could be easily remedied by my simply moving out were I inclined to pay the extortion rates of local landlords/apartment complexes. Ceasing to be a lesbian, drunk, fat lard takes much more to overcome....so wallow in your misery - LOSERS! Fair enough! I will say, however, that it's not just about the money, but rather the freedom to make it as I see fit without a boss telling me when to show up, how to dress, etc. The security of being able to make money at my own discretion without there being a "job" to be lost is very liberating. But I will stipulate that the individuals here could buy and sell me out. I make such stipulation for I neither know the financials of the other individuals who post here, nor do I care.
I do understand the anger of the individuals here on these forums that is directed towards me. I mean, I have defeated so many who have challenged me over the years, that it's only natural that there will be resentment towards me. Seven-month-old Valery Huttner needs a new liver to save her life. She was born with Biliary Atresia—a rare liver disease that affects only one out of 20,000 newborns. The disease causes toxins to build up in her body. Doctors say that she must have a transplant in the next few months.
Many people have asked for information on how to be tested to see if they are a viable living liver donor. Doctors say there are a few requirements that must be met first:
-The potential living donor must be under 40 years old
-Must have type O blood
-Must not have any major chronic health problems

Definitely agree!! Would it be possible to post these threads in red font or a similar color to alert attention? Also, would it be possible to set the site up so that this and similar threads automatically show up on the home page, daily posts, or all pages?

I saw this last night on the news. I grew up loving LaBrasca's Pizza and still go there today as an adult... truly my favorite pizza place in town. I'm glad that no one was hurt and that my beloved pizza parlor is still very much in business.

AIKEN -- A killer is on the loose in Aiken County.
In the wee hours of the darkness on Monday evening a murderer lurked on North Windsor Road, driving on a public road, the killer slowed, fired shots into the fenced pasture belonging to Bill and Sarah Cato and sped into the darkness leaving a bloodbath behind.
On Tuesday when Sarah Cato went to check on her guineas, who were nesting near the front pasture, she found the victims of a heartless killer. Four of her pet rabbits had been shot. Two lay dead, shot in the back as they tried to escape, and two lay wounded. The two wounded rabbits suffered from gunshot wounds to the hip and leg.
These acts are not simply cruel, they are criminal. All of these killings break several laws. Rewards have been offered for information leading to the arrests of the Bambi killer and the Yorkie killer.
If you have any information on any of these violations, call the Operation Game Thief hotline at (800) 922-5431 or Aiken County Animal Control at (803) 642-1537.

Subject: NEW DRUG, Please read!!!!!!!!!!! (UNCLASSIFIED)
Please pass this on even if you do not have kids in school. Parents
should know about this killer drug.
This is a new drug known as 'strawberry quick '.
There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that we
all need to be aware of.
There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry
pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and 'pops' in your mouth). It also
smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school
yards. They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.
Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off
to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut
butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange.
Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and
even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may
have been given it and believed it is candy) and to take any that they
may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.
Pass this WARNING on to as many people as you can (even if they don't have
kids) so that we can raise awareness and hopefully prevent any tragedies
from occurring.

Linda Derrick
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Columbia (WLTX) -- Richland County deputies say an elderly woman was found dead Saturday night inside her home on Winyah Drive, which is the same street that a home invasion occured just hours before.
Deputies say around 10:00 p.m., they responded to the home on the 6300 block of Winyah Drive, located off of Monticello Road. Inside, they found Linda Derrick dead. Coroner Gary Watts says her cause of death is blunt head trauma.
Authorities say there is evidence that some things were stolen from the home. They also say that the woman's car was stolen but was recovered a few blocks over on Apache Drive a couple hours later.
Around 1:15 a.m. Saturday morning, deputies responded to a home in the 1000 block of the same street, where a woman had been stabbed and beaten by an unknown male who entered her home. Authorities say the suspect took an undisclosed amount of money. (Click here to read more about this story.) (http://www.wltx.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=70078&catid=2)
Investigators are trying to determine if the two incidents are related to one another.
"She'd just retired and she didn't act like she'd retired. She had a lot of life and she's very young-looking and young-acting, and very involved in the community as well," Derrick's cousin Richard Gates says.
Gates is just one of the many who will miss Derrick. But, as her cousin and next-door neighbor, he is one of the few who witnessed all of the tragedy behind her death. "Her son-in-law beat on my door and got me out of bed. His face was white as a sheet and he said, 'Get over here, Linda's down," Gates recalls, "I touched her hoping she was - hoping against hope that maybe she was still alive and I realized she'd been dead a long time."
Deputies say there were several things stolen from the home, but haven't determined yet how the person responsible got in or if it's related to another home invasion case from the night before. "It is suspicious. We're still determining the facts of the case right now, but we're not ruling that out at all," says Sgt. Kim Myers.
Myers understands the concerns of the neighborhood, with both crimes involving elderly women. "What we're looking at is suspicious people that may have been in the neighborhood at that time," she says.
Says Gates, "Now I have a lot of anger and I'm not proud to say that. I'm very angry right now and I'm trying to deal with that."
But behind that anger in Gates' eyes is sadness. When all of that fades, he'll still have memories of his cousin. "We call it the wall, it's the little wall that separates our properties. I'll miss meeting her at the wall at least once a day. For 6 years now, we've been doing that," he says.
If you have any information that can help investigators, please call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
My condolences to the Counts family. B
Man Arrested in Stabbing, Beating Home Invasion Case
http://www.wltx.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=70078&catid=2
Columbia (WLTX) -- Richland deputies have arrested a man they say stabbed and beat a woman in her own home early Saturday morning, and say his addiction to crack to blame.
Deputies arrested 44-year-old Elbert Wallace and charged him with assault and battery with intent to kill.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest during a Monday afternoon news conference.
"We are doing a crackdown on these crackheads," Lott said.
Authorities say at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Wallace entered the woman's home on the 1000 block Winyah Drive and stabbed her in the lower body.
Deputies say Wallace also cause lacerations to the woman's arm and hit her multiple times in the head.
Elbert also fled the home with an undisclosed amount of money, deputies say. They say his motivation for the attack was directly related to his addiction to crack cocaine.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
"It's the type of place when you're driving home and somebody's walking on the side of the road, you wave and they wave back," says Mavis Marshall, a neighbor of the victim.
"We're sick and tired of crackheads in Richland County," said Lott. "A lot of people who are addicted to crack are terrorizing this community," said the sheriff.
Lott said investigators are unsure if the case is connected to another home invasion in Richland County that left Linda Derrick dead in her Winyah Drive home near Monticello Road.
Marshall and her husband Lance have lived on Winyah Drive for 12 years.
"It's changing. As the older folks pass, we've gotten more families moving in. And also students. Yeah, quite a few students from CIU," they say.
"Most everybody in the neighborhood would help you out if you asked," adds Lance, "It's been very quiet. I mean, the most activity is the noisy boom cars at night."
The Marshalls reacted like anyone would when they heard the news of what happened to their neighbor.
"Stunned. Very much stunned me," says Mavis. Adds Lance, "She's a nice lady. She really doesn't deserve it."
Neighbors like the Marshalls were shocked to hear what happened and even more shocked to hear the details.
"He also hit her in the head area several times. She took several blows to the head," says Sgt. Kim Myers.
For Myers, it's a distressing case to work. "Someone preying on the weak. Someone preying on the elderly, and that is something that we do not like and we do not tolerate," she says.
Says Mavis, "It's disappointing more than anything - stunned and disappointing. Because this is a gentle neighborhood."

I say life without parole for being a violent criminal. There is absolutely no reason to ever let him walk free again.
Times are changing for crackheads apparently. It hasn't been long since they rarely did violent crimes. Usually just stealing stuff.
Not anymore.

Elbert Wallace begged two women for money at their Winyah Drive homes before killing one and injuring the other over the weekend, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday.
Lott disclosed new details in announcing that Wallace was formally charged with murder in the beating death of Linda Derrick, 62, at her home at 6319 Winyah Drive.
Wallace, 44, who deputies said lived with relatives in the neighborhood, already was facing charges in the robbery and stabbing of Carolyn Webb, 66, at her home at 1313 Winyah Drive, located several blocks from Derrick’s home.

New Candy-like Club Drug Hits Kitsap’s Shores
http://pugetsoundblogs.com/kitsap-crime/files/2009/03/benzylpiperazine.jpg (http://pugetsoundblogs.com/kitsap-crime/files/2009/03/benzylpiperazine.jpg)
West Sound Narcotics Enforcement Team (http://www.kitsapgov.com/sheriff/detectives/westnet.htm) detectives got a bit of a surprise while working a case in November. Utilizing a police operative, they arranged a purchase of what they thought would bring in ecstasy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecstasy), a popular club drug, from a known seller.
Instead, they got 103 pills, some of which were shaped like Transformers (http://pugetsoundblogs.com/kitsap-crime/2009/03/11/new-candy-like-club-drug-hits-kitsaps-shores/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers_(toyline)), the Simpsons (http://pugetsoundblogs.com/kitsap-crime/2009/03/11/new-candy-like-club-drug-hits-kitsaps-shores/www.thesimpsons.com/) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (http://pugetsoundblogs.com/kitsap-crime/2009/03/11/new-candy-like-club-drug-hits-kitsaps-shores/www.ninjaturtles.com/). (Photos at left courtesy of the Anchorage Daily News crime blog (http://community.adn.com/node/136681).)
“It looked just like candy,” said Carlos Rodriguez, the narcotics team’s sergeant. “If you were to have it in a bowl on a table, you would want to grab it and eat it.”
What Rodriguez found was that the pills were “BZP” — or Benzylpiperazine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzylpiperazine) — an amphetamine-based drug that, much like ecstasy, increases alertness, the senses, your heart rate, and an overall sense of euphoria.
It also can cause seizures and acute psychosis, according to Wikipedia (http://pugetsoundblogs.com/kitsap-crime/2009/03/11/new-candy-like-club-drug-hits-kitsaps-shores/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzylpiperazine), and Rodriguez said the hangover is more severe than that of ecstasy.
It’s also cheap — about $7 to $10 a pill — when compared to other drugs, including meth, heroin, and cocaine.
Rodriguez said he’s been checking in with other drug enforcement task forces to ensure they’re aware of the drug, and they’ve been discussing strategies to combat it. But it’s still very early in the drug’s arrival.

Police are still looking for the suspect and they describing him simply as a male, between 20 and 30 years of age with short hair.
Lately I've seen this more and more, and I guess you could call it a pet peeve. When the police ask for us to be on the lookout, how about advising if the person in question is black, white, pink, purple, etc?

WIS is particularly bad about this, BTDT. I'm sure the police gave a race, but WIS chose not to say it, being PC and all.

Some people arrested in the town of Boscawen are criticizing the Police Department's practice of publishing their mug shots on the popular social media site Facebook.
One man called police and said he has lost jobs because his name and photo were posted on the page, and a teen charged with underage drinking told News 9 he found out from friends that his photo was online.

We would like to remind everyone any and all people arrested by the Boscawen Police Department, or any police department, are innocent until proven guilty by the State, and are treated accordingly. Guilt is not presumed upon anyone, but rather proven later at trial.
