When I was a kid, our kindergarden class took a yearly visit to Pet Dairies, followed by a trip to McGrgor's Farm (across from LR; see it before it becomes a sea of ugly boxes) where we would see where milk comes from, and more importantly, eat ice cream with those super-cool balsawood spoons.

I used to think Mr. McGregor was the guy who was trying to get Peter Rabbit, and was confused because he was such a nice man.

His son and I spent countless hours using our jackets as parachutes and jumping off the utility shed in the back yard.

I could see the blue silo from the loquat tree in my parents yard, if I climbed high enough.

I know Cue and Swamp are from around there. Y'all (or anyone else) have any memories to share as another peice of Lower Richland farmland becomes 'starter homes?'

I used to hang around that area growing up. Z

PS. Did you have Reba Higgins as a teacher?

Nah, I went to Hammond. She sounds familiar, though. What'd she teach?

Drama, I didn't go to LR, but helped out with the drama club in my spare time.

I used to hang in that area with a CB radio club, called "Catch 22"......many years agoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I remember how me and Pa used to walk barefoot across their property to fish in their pond (with permission, we were all friends back then). We usually had a lard can of biscuits and fried ham. Some of the biscuits got used for bait. We'd catch a mess of whatever was bitin' and take 'em home, clean 'em, and fry 'em up on the old wood stove. Sometimes we'd take McGregor a mess of collards or tomatos or whatever was in season. Sometimes it was cilantro and sweet basil. Folks used to share what they made on their land. Nowadays with all of the BS going on we put up No Trespassin' signs.

Dang!

Well it looks to me like since Colatown won't run water and sewer out there for him, Mungo is trying to foist off the property on Richland County for about twice what he paid for it.

I bet Richland County is going to fall for it.

Looks like The State did.

That would be a dang shame if they can't develop it.
