I hope that both Sheriff Metts and Larry Harrison review this site from time to time. Following is a "Wish List" that I hope for our Community:

1) A better notification system for convicted child molesters. We have no way of knowing who is a threat in our neighborhoods unless we purposely go out and look them up ourselves. I would like to see more communication regarding potential threats to our children and ideas on how to accomplish that.

2) More neighborhood watch programs. Currently, we really have very few that are actually enforced. I would like to see a program that enables our deputies more time to teach the community how to become safer and more aware of there surroundings.

3) More education and awareness on gang related issues in our Lexington County Schools. What gangs are in our school system? What should we as parents be looking for? What kind of real threat is there for their activities? What do we do if we suspect our child or a friend of our child is involved in something like this?

4) More school policing and neighborhood policing. Especially when the children are getting out of school.

5) An open forum created between citizens of Lexington County and the LCSD Deputies and Administration. A lot of us tax payors don't approach local law enforcement because there is no "open communication" for us to do that with. I would like to see a system created that allows citizens to voice and validate their concerns in the county.

6) More community awareness activites from the Sheriffs Department. Years ago they use to allow the kids to come to a "Fun Day" that involved education, tours and it gave everyone a real opportunity to meet our men in blue, thank them and to see our Deputies at work. They would have several educational things setup. I have seen a small version of this in the past, but nothing to the calibur it was years ago.

7) I would like to see our Sheriff more. Not just when it is glorifying his position. I would like to see him for once on T.V. say "My men/women solved this case" "They are hard workers and care about their community". Sappy but true. THERE IS NO I IN TEAM!!! And that is what the police force should be.

This is what an open forum is really suppose to be about! This is what this website was created for. Yet, your using it to slam other people and voice at best gossip!!! I have nothing to hide. Anybody want to go toe to toe with me on some REAL issues that will make a difference?

I hope someone takes initative to address these valid concerns, ideas, etc. I have seen nothing that addressed "concerned mom's" issues regarding traffic. I live on a very populated street and I believe those kind of things do need to be addressed. I see alot of LCSD people making comments on this site. Be productive and give us some real answers.

We are tax payors as you are. We would like to see the real issues at hand be addressed. This is what the whole purpose of getting someone new in office is really about. This is what "the job" is. Not who is Republican or Democratic. Or who screwed who and who didn't!!! Suck it up people.. Lets get busy and knock out some real issues!!!!

Thanks for your time..

Now here's something to ponder. Why is it that this was posted in December and yet it has received no attention? Does anyone on Metts staff know the answers to these questions. Or was this such an intelligent question that you are still stumbed in February.

Metts supporters.. Here's your chance to redeem the choking chicken. What's wrong cat got your tongue?

Wow - you don't know much about Metts. If he had his way, it would be called the Metts department instead of Sheriff's department.

Just look at the website. Metts INSISTS that it be separate from the county website and the sheriff has their own web team. His single picture is on the home page of the sheriff section - Not the "TEAM" or the people that actually go out there and put their life on the line - the REAL sheriff department.

Perhaps notice the "Sheriff Mett's Golf Tournament"??? Why isn't it the "Lexington County Sheriff's Golf Tournament"?? Hmmmmmm.[/img]

Because the Good Sheriff is nothing more than a glory hog. It didn't take long for the citizens to chime in with real facts about why we should be voting for Harrison and not Metts. Thanks for pointing out the ME, ME, ME in the Lexington COUNTY website. Just another great reason to make a change and bring in someone with fresh ideas and start new.
